A definite "acting the bollox" if ever. Spurs anyone ? :D

    S Korea accused over 'poisoning'

North Korea has accused South Korea of poisoning its football players with an "adulterated foodstuff" ahead of last week's World Cup qualifier match.

North Korea coach Kim Jong Hun made the allegation after his team lost 1-0 to South Korea on 1 April. Seoul has denied the claim.

The North's football association said the act was part of Seoul's "moves for confrontation" with Pyongyang.

The match took place at a time of increasing political tension.

On Sunday, North Korea defied international warnings and pressed ahead with a controversial rocket launch.

State media said a satellite had been put into orbit and was transmitting data and revolutionary songs.

But Western powers said the launch failed - and the US, Japan and South Korea suspect it was a cover for a long-range missile test.

    Neutral ground?

In a statement about the match, the North's football association said: "It was beyond all doubt that the incident was a product of a deliberate act perpetrated by adulterated foodstuff as [the players] could not get up all of a sudden just before the match."

    North Korea's missile programme

Coach Kim had asked for the match to be delayed and moved to a neutral venue, claiming three of his players had food poisoning, but FIFA rejected the request.

The Korea Football Association, the South's football federation, said a sports doctor had examined the North Korean players and found no serious problem.

The two teams have played each other a number of times in the past year, during the qualification stages for the 2010 World Cup.

But the worsening diplomatic relations between the two countries appears to have translated onto the football pitch.

North Korea's home matches have had to be played on neutral ground in Shanghai, because the North refuses to allow the playing of the South's national anthem or the waving of its flags.

Relations between the two governments have deteriorated since the new conservative President Lee Myung-bak took office in Seoul last year.

Ashley Young. He was developed an exceptionally bad attitude recently. A player I now love to hate.

In the last 10 games he hasn't had a single goal or an assist, no end product generally either, he's been booked twice for mouthing off, sent off once for a disgraceful lunge, shapes around the pitch with a mopey face on him that would put Gerrard to shame. He also cost Aston Villa the game yesterday, Gary Neville began his run from beside Ashley Young, you'd think that in injury time at 2-2 every player would be closing down and chasing back, nope, not Ashley Young, when the ball didn't come in he looked discontented and strolled around looking over at the idiot who didn't play him, Ashley Young, in......while he was glaring over Neville set off down the pitch from behind him to set up the winner. He should me made play in the reserves for a couple of months, that would bring him back down to earth.
i'm sure i could replace Ashley Young with Ronaldo and many people would agree...!!

Alan Hansen Criticises 'Crazy' & 'Unprofessional' Amr Zaki
The Liverpool legend and 'Match of the Day' pundit thinks the Egyptian's recent conduct is simply unacceptable...

Alan Hansen, often famously forthright in his condemnation of bad defending whilst working as a pundit on the BBC's 'Match of the Day' programme, has turned some of his withering scorn in the direction of Wigan Athletic striker Amr Zaki, a man who might not be welcomed back too heartily when he eventually decides to return to Lancashire from international duty with Egypt.

The situation has left Latics manager Steve Bruce fuming, and publicly stating that he doesn't envisage a meaningful future for the player at the DW Stadium, and Hansen agrees with the manager in this case.

"The situation with Amr Zaki at Wigan is a crazy one and what Steve Bruce has publicly stated is completely correct," Hansen writes, in his column for The New Football Pools website.

"Steve has shown in the past that he will bend over backwards for his players but if the guy is going to consistently fail to turn up after international duty then enough is enough.

"If Steve hadn’t spoken out against the unprofessionalism of Zaki then he risked a lack of respect from his players. There can’t be one rule for one and one for another so the manager has definitely done the right thing in my view.

"If he turned a blind eye then other players may have started to question Steve’s authority and you can’t have that."

Zaki has been linked with a host of clubs this season, as he is only on loan at Wigan from Egyptian outfit Zamalek, with the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotpsur all reportedly expressing an interest in securing his services.

Hansen doubts that many would still be interested in the player now, and concluded by urging Zaki to remember his responsibilities.

He said, "He is supposed to be a professional footballer and is paid well to do so. Whether he is only going to remain at the JJB until the end of the season or longer, he should still show Wigan football club and his manager some respect for giving him a chance in a top league in the the first place.

"Steve has done a great job for Wigan and he has shown he’s not a man to be messed with. Zaki may live to regret what can be only seen as a sheer lack of professionalism on his part."

Sergio Ramos Ditches Real Madrid For Bullfighting Event

Los Blancos' right-back Sergio Ramos was suspended yesterday evening as his side ground out a narrow 2-0 win against Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu. While David Beckham was in the VIP Box enjoying what little entertainment his former team-mates were providing, Sergio Ramos had other plans.

According to Marca, the 'number four' left the stadium at half-time to attend a local bullfighting event in the outskirts of Madrid. Star matador Alejandro Talavante is known to be good friend with Ramos, and the pair met up at the arena at 18:00.

Ramos then saw his friend battling it out with six rampant bulls, all of whom were thirsty for Talavante's blood. Sergio Ramos was caught on camera in the arena stands, looking silky in his Real Madrid suit.

Real Madrid rules state that every player who is not included in the squad list must be at the stadium for kick-off, but the player is not bound to stay for the whole match. This means that Ramos didn't break any rules, but the player's dedication to the club will no doubt be questioned by the Spanish press over the coming week.

Although Ramos' antics will probably not go down too well with the Madrid hierarchy, it is understandable why he left the boring game at the Bernabeu to attend a much more action-packed bullfighting arena.

One would think the guy would have the courtesy to stay until the game had finished.

That doesn't seem like a big deal imo.
