Does anyone else think this is a class publication? I grew out of Kerrang years ago and was lost for a while until this excellent magazine came out.

Always a great, plentiful read and the bonus of a free cd/dvd with each issue with some great music on it.

And for all us Proggies they have just published "Classic Rock present Prog" with the second issue due in May.:cool:

    Heaven:D

It's an excellent read, lots of great articles on classic bands past, present and reformed. Can be hard to get hold of though, there's only one newsagent out of 8 within a mile of me that stocks it.

I presume you're based in Lucan? I'm not too far from you...which newsagent sells it? Thanks.

Would Eason's not have it if you were in the City Centre?

Always plenty of them up here; suppose cause we're on the border. great free dvd in Issue 131 with Dio, Black Crowes, Paul Rodgers, Yes, Deep Purple etc.

Great cd on the first issue of "Classic Rock presents Prog" featuring up and coming bands

It is the one music mag that I will get each month without fail. Has been the best rock mag for years.

Bought the odd issue, mags are so damned expensive I tend not to bother these days (or indeed for some years)

great mag alright but way too much Led Zep stuff in it for me.

I love their reviews section, found loads of great albums on there.

They're running a poll for the second issue in May. They want votes from the readers for their 5 favourite prog albums. Should be interesting.

The webite is good, but I prefer the hardcopy. Good line in merchendise too if you don't fancy band tee-shirts

I too used to get it on a monthly basis, not much anymore though, still buy the odd copy.

Mick Wall's interview with Axl Rose back in the day was awesome.

I had a look at the current copy - a free CD that contains as lazy a selection of tracks as you could not wish to hear again.

Tbh I've never paid any attention to any CD I've ever gotten for free.

They're generally free for a reason.

I bought it up the North today and it comes with a free dvd.(UK only apparently).

Oh and it only cost £4.50

It is a free cd, who cares how lazy a selection it was? This month's mag also had a free dvd, and the choices on both the cd and dvd are because this month's issues is the top 50 vocalists issue.

The cd track listing is as follows below, and the dvd has almost the same artist list but different songs in most cases. I have seen far worse free cds. Normally I tend to chuck any free cds into the bin, as I don't buy any mag on the strength of a free cd, but this one is not that bad.

    Dio - Holy Diver

    The Who - Can't Explain

    Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit

    Black Crowes - Sound Singing

Paul Rodgers - Feel Like Makin' Love

Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart

    Heart - Magic Man

Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water

Bryan Ferry - Knockin' On Heaven's Door

Rush - The Spirit Of Radio

    Joni Mitchell- Big Yellow Taxi

Procol Harum - An Old English Dream

Mike & The Mechanics - The Living Years

Tina Turner - Simply The Best

The Doors - Light My Fire

The Eason store in Limerick has the dvd with it. It is inside the sealed carboard cover that the dvd, cd, and mag are inside.

I'm sure he's referring to the Jethro Tull album.

Thanks for the heads up, I will check it out. However I don't think much of the poll idea though as you could reasonbly predict the top ten to be full of Yes, Genesis, Crimson, Tull and Floyd albums. I would much prefer if they spent their time unearthing some forgotten gems.

There's info in "..Prog" of various websites specialising in new,old and lost prog.
