Flashing a balcony (Cill-less)

    am in the process of building and have fitted a patio door on first floor level - for future balcony.
    did not fit on cill,
    at the moment i have it an inch over the cavity (block construction)
    what is the best way to flash / finish the bottom to ensure no water problems
    The patio has its own cill/lip - but how best to finish the blockwork
    was thinking lead flashing, but not sure of the detailing?
    any experienced people out there?
