Count me in! My dogs would love this, any chance to meet other dogs is great for them!

Ok Brilliant. Plenty of people I think.

So now we need more area suggestions, so if in the next few posts we could get a few, that would be great.

Castletown House is one, another option is Donadea Forrest park. Bth of these are pretty close to each other so an option of somewhere in the wilds of wicklow might be good too ;). Then we can do another poll take a vote and then choose a day?

If anyone has better organisational skill than me and can see a flaw in that plan let me know!

I'd be up for this but my pup prob won't be big enough to walk if it's soon but I can carry him for the majority of it :D
Or you can take my monster and allow me carry your pup :)

YOURFACE, yep meeting and greeting is great for them. I'm hoping someone will have a nice (large) calm dog who will let harley know that it's not acceptable to greet by face diving. :o He's been socialised from a tiny pup and still does it when he meets other dogs.

Ok so castletown house is the first suggestion. I've never been myself but am happy to give it a shot. :) - Are they dog friendly? Is there a structured walk or is it a "wandering" type place?

Other people happy with this, or can offer other suggestions?

They are really dog friendly in the Castletown house area. it's not really a structured walk, more then a huge field divited by the liffey (great for a swimm for the doggies), beside a little forest.

Prob a bit out of the way for people but Killiney hill is a great place for doggies! and council laws allow for dogs to be off there lead there.

Really? Thats a winner for me then. :) Well Killiney hill area might suit because it's pretty even from wicklow/Dublin isn't it? (or is it, my sense of direction is terrible.)

I suppose it would be an even distance for most areas of dublin and wicklow it also has parking. Organise a poll and people can vote fo their favorite place

Yep will do, just want one or two more suggestions. We have 2 in kildare and one in kiliney.

Moderators - can I change an existing poll, or do I need to start a new thread (If it's possible to do it without starting a new thread that would be great.)

How about Devils Glen Wood near Ashford in Wicklow? or theres Jouce near Roundwood but that might be a bit demanding for the young ones! Theres always Glendalough but thats mental now coming into the summer...or Powerscourt?

How about trying to organise a national walk day, all on the same day but in different parts of the country. I'm not near Dublin and I'm sure there are other's in the same boat. Maybe EGAR would help as she has organised one before. Local dog clubs could be contacted and we could put up posters. I'd be happy to help.

:)Great idea cloudy day. I've never been involved in a national walk before. So help would be appreciated or even if you can point me in the right direction.

Gosh TBH I've never even been on a sponsored walk. so if anyone has any ideas on how to go about it I'd be all up for it. Wouldn't mind helping out.

    Has anyone any ideas.

How about we keep it regional for now, see how we get on with that, then look at organising a national one?

Id love to join with my 4 as well :D. I was thinking about this before but did nothing about it. :o. If anyone has fosters they can put/make bibs for them to say the rescue name or 'im looking for a home'.

Im in Offaly but on Dublin side. Donadea Park in Kildare is the only place I can suggest, which is already suggested, but its every nice and even has a coffee shop in summer. Im prepared to travel though.

It this works out, you could make it regular. Have a look at biggsd.com, I know they are in the UK, but I foster for them and they have weekly walks and they post pictures on the site after. They change the venue each week. I know its easier to organise in England but we may as well try.

Also, as regards the sponsor thing, I did the Flora Marathon last week and I was wishing we could have had our dogs with us.!!!

Well done on the marathon. It would be great to be able to bring dogs along :).

I'm just going to go ahead and put up Donadea, Killiney and Castletown as the walking options.

Can a mod please let me know, would it be better to start a new thread, or can I change the current poll or attach a new one?

With regards to the sponsorship, I would suggest that there is no "suggested donation" that people give what they can. As well as any old items their pets may not need anymore.

Can I also get some suggestions on charities you would like your money to go to. (preferably a forum regular, boards dog walk for a boards charity)

There is a beautiful wood land up near Clonaslee, Co. Laois.
I take my dogs up there when I feel motivated. It requires alot of determination but it is so worth it.
    The dogs love it.
May possibly be too far away from most but just thought I'd let ye know it exists :-)

I'll stick it up as an option. :)
