Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's an English William III so I'm not familiar with their values, certain dates could be particularly rare, so if you just wanted one you should find out which dates are the cheapest and find a high quality one for yourself. That one is of very low quality yet it's at a high price already so it must be quite scarce.

Personally I mainly collect Irish and there are two main types of Irish coins with William III. Just after he demonitized all of James II's gunmoney he brought out a halfpenny with a double bust portrait of himself and Mary. Then when she died he had them made with just his bust.

Hi A bit late I know
First of all if your going to collect coins, buy a good book Coins of England and the United kingdom by spinks it the standard referance of british coinage. There is an Irish Version of this.

    Yes fakes are knocking around
    http://coins.about.com/od/worldcoins/ig/Chinese-Counterfeiting-Ring/

The best way to spot a fake check for other auctions listing the same coins two sellers with the same coin, same condition walk away!!!!
Yes they do age coins also, so the best advice I can give it the get out and go the a few coin fairs/Auctions and get an eye for what you want to collect, you will soon get a feel for it and know what looks right.
Buy the best you can afford, that is don't buy 6 low grade coins (Fine) when you could buy 1 high grade (EF UNC).

The crown lists for £125 Fine to £1400 EF and there is spelling variations which are very rare.
