That drives me mad also. All the time you hear Dub's saying things like "I'm going down to Galway or I'm going down to Donegal". Its so annoying.

I enjoy hillwalking myself from time to time it is very sobering to be reminded how easy it is for things to go wrong on places like the Comeraghs.

On a lighter note, the "disappearance" of Carrie Crowley has at time been a talking point, well she's on WLR at 12.30.

Let's hope that she disappears fairly quickly after that!

Carphone Warehouse to close all their shops in Ireland. Will mean the closure of both shops in Waterford & Dungarvan. Sad day for workers.

it is indeed, but theres probably many factors involved, brexit, covid etc etc, this wont be pretty, i think retail may turn into a browser only affair, and goods will be posted to the door

I don't think it actually will be that bad, just a slight delay in receiving the goods, and with lead times ever reducing, you could be looking at a delay of hours or days, under normal conditions

Could we see High Street stores lower prices like online retailers ?

who knows, but theres only so many layers on an onion, high street retailers effectively cant compete with online retailers, ive spoken to local business owners about this, and theyve been forced to radically change their business models to try, with limited success. we desperately need to protect high street retailers in such situations, or we ll all end up working in amazon warehouses and call centers, with little or no high street retail. i think turning the high street into a browser only model could work reasonably well, it could be argued that you could effectively have your item arrive before or shortly after you arrive home from such a purchase, it could be done

A bit random but does/did anyone ever call their mother "mum" here? Just saw used a more than once in local newspaper and I thought to myself I've never really heard anyone in Waterford ever calling their mother that.

Could hear them very loudly around 2 PM for a while then all quiet - maybe the Garda finally turned up rather than stopping traffic about town.
