It will be another half hearted budget with LOTS of stealth taxes and relatively indirect subsidies for the builder buddies. Or maybe FF will change from the model they have followed since Dev started the Irish Press with the money he raised for the cause in the states.

Deferment of stuff for people who don't vote, like school funding.
possible closing of more long term care creating effects like we saw in the 1970's and more recently "care in the community" doesn't work for many people

Doubling of the recent Tax increases
Hopefully by adding in more at the higher bands
Increase in CGT from 20% to 25-30%

Corporation tax, hard to judge, maybe offering more incentives

VAT on goods largely unchanged , no major drop

More benefits means tested, they will try to bring back the stuff they backed down on but call it a different name.

They will fail at the "fairness" factor, but will be fairer than previous budgets

    Increase in A&E costs
    Raised limits on perscription medicines

Changes in stamp duty at the upper end of the scale.

    Insulation scheme expansion.

No increase in Garda funding despite all evidence showing that petty crime will increase due to more jobless with more time and less money.

Self financing things they won't do
    crack down on foreign trawlers
state owned number plate recognition cameras for bus lane and other non-speeding offences ( PPP ones will generate more hostillity than revenue)
crack down on major earners , by vetting tax returns and tax loopholes
crack down on the beneficieries of brown envelopes
The tribunals cost a lot of money , but a lot more people paid tax because of them
reducing loopholes for residency and removing any loopholes / schemes that didn't produce a nett benefit to the economy even when jobs created in suppliers were taken into account
crack down on EU citizens here who have outstanding warrants on them in their home countries, it's a database search
crack down on foreign reg cars, link into UK database for left hand drive , for right hand drive provide a dated disk at point of entry when proof of insurace shown
Implement UK levels of road traffic enforcement including confiscation and crushing , large gains in fines, halves hospital costs, increases in car sales and VRT

one thing they could do but won't :pac:
in banks taken over / HIGHER civil service they could have a Dutch auction. Announce a "voluntary" 10% cut in wages and keep the people who accept the biggest percentage cut in part of their wages in the top band tax rate till they reach that overall level.

Hopefully they will put 10% on Alcohol from off licenses and leave publicans alone.
There has been no increase on the goverment take on a pint for a very very long time, all increases have been on the publicans and brewers side.
low alcohol beers have actually dropped recently

Increase in airport and travel taxes of an extra fiver

You only receive mortgage relief for 7 years and the amount varies. We are definitely not getting €900 p.a.

Wrong!!! Its 900 pa indefinitely - if you're not getting it you're doing something wrong - anyway as I predicted it's now gone so you're not missing out anymore.
