Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm about to start playing around with photoshop so I'm interested to see what can be done by those in the know.

Would be nice to see some boardies original pics compared with the processed version.
There are some great photos posted here, and I'm curious as to how much is processing...?

Edit: If you say what you did in editing the photo it'd help us newbies out big time.

    Thanks,
    Willy

One tip I will give is that 'little is more'. That doesn't always mean that you shouldn't change your image a lot but moreso do more small changed opposed to one or two dramatic changed. Like so:

    less_is_more.jpg

Remember to post your work up, I look forward to seeing it!

Quick interruption as I hope to buy - is elements worth the money or is it best to go full? As in, can you do the above with elements?

Download the 1 month demo's of each and see for yourself - Start off with CS4, then try Elements, if you feel restricted by Elements, you know what to do ;)

Personally, if you're thinking of 'getting into it', and have access to any student/education schemes for getting it cheaper, it'd be well worth it.

Er Mel I prefer your original!
Brilliant thread this and while they're some fantastic conversions the one that interests me is the one of the Aer Lingus plane, how was the plane 'brought out' or should I even say the rest blurred out? It's like a diff aperture used in the PP!

Id say select the plane and then a gaussian blur on the background

These were done in Picnic, which is the free image software on Flickr. In all cases I tried to rescue really boring images with fairly heavy post production. None are great tbh, but I learned a lot in doing it.

    Bravo! :D

What is that? I'm guessing water drops on a glass table, with an image of the coloured beads a few inches beneath? Great shot anyway, and smashing editing.

Yeah that almost exactly it. I used a brand new CD case as i had no glass but when magnified if was covered in scratches! Managed to get rid of them on the computer. The beads are skittle sweets.

This was never going to be a good shot as the camera was a disposable and 3 years out of date. I hadn't slept in many hours/days, my fingers hurt from playing music, french was paining my head from concentration and I was chemically altered. But I liked the look of the girl and thought Marc looked particularly handsome. I wanted to run the roll out so I could get developed in Paris, so snapped off the last 2 exp. on the train.
I don't know if it's my best but it's my most recent favourite.

I usually use the Canon software, Digital Photo Professional. It does not get great reviews from Photoshop users, but I find it fast, especially for tweaking "levels".

The difficulty of making some recent football photos more lively resulted in this:
