I posted this in the Portable Media Players forum as well but this can't hurt!

The button on the front of my iPod touch has stopped working, I think it should be a fairly simple repair but my iPod is out of warantee so I have to get it fixed by an independent.

I have heard that one repairer in the Dublin area is quite dodgy but the person who told me that didn't know the name! If anyone has had there iPod repaired and found the service good I'd be much obliged.

I recently smashed the glass screen on my iPhone and sent it to these guys on eBay. They will replace a broken glass screen and digitizier (touch element) and deliver it back to you for about €50. They have a very good rep with other users on eBay. http://stores.shop.ebay.ie/iRepair-Centre

i'm unsure how much it will cost for your repair but they do all types of iPods and repairs.

You could also purchase the parts yourself very cheaply on eBay but it is an extremely hard job to do. Have a look at a few disassemble videos on Youtube.

I've heard of this problem before and it was caused by a load of dirt building up under the button. See here: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/how_to/4291585.html

Opening it is pretty risky though.

I had a look at that chap on ebay who repairs them, he looks reliable enough, has anyone else tried it out? My problem is the ipod won't start so I think its a software problem...apple want e141 for the repair, it ridiculous!!
