    CZ varmint 223.
Shot a few groups at 200m to get a feel for the day that was in it and then went to the 300m range.

Got these off a bi-pod using a rear sand bag rest. Thats one 28mm group and two 40 mm groups I'll never get them again. The rest were zeroing shots.
!0 clicks of up was put in on the turrets, 1 click = 1/4" @100m to go from 200m zero to 300m zero. Using Federal V-Shok 40gr.

.......... decided on the .223 cause the ammo is cheaper than the .204...

BEWARE a lot of the "cheaper" ammo is not much good and don't forget FMJ's should NOT be used for hunting ;)

    .223 kicks .17 ass:D:D:D

I have just beat the ****e out of the scores from the "fox shoot" in order to get some statistics from them :)

    163 ex 170 = 95.88%
    162 ex 170 = 95.29%
    161 ex 170 = 94.71%
    158 ex 170 = 92.94%
    151 ex 170 = 88.82%
    148 ex 170 = 87.06%
    146 ex 170 = 85.88%
    137 ex 170 = 80.59%

Highest .223 score being 163 ex 170 (95.88%) and .17 Rem being 146 ex 170 (85.88%), I reckon a 17 point difference (10%) :) considering the wind that was blowing on the day and we all know how bad the 17 Rem performs in the wind and that the difference between 1st place and last place was 26 points (15.29%) I don't think the 17 Rem put in a bad performance

I reckon a 10% difference says a lot about the 17 Rem shooters superior ability at judging the wind and aiming off considering he had to aim off 10"-12" left and 6"-8" high to get near the bull :p

    And didn't a 204 win that competition :)

That aside the CZ's shooting that day were very impressive ;)

Good choice Andy you won't be sorry they are a lovely gun to shoot and now your next decision is what scope to put on it??:D
Whats your budget for a scope and what mag do you want?? we may be able to help ;):D

I would recommend Millet mounts as they are made for the CZ action and I've seen a lot of lads trying different mounts and flapping about with the cheaper options before settling on the millet. Would you agree Clive??;)

The other thing is a harris bipod and the mandatory lightforce scope mounted lamp.
    Ammo?
    Sling?
    Bore guide ?
    Moderator?
    Laser range finder?
    spare mag.'s
    jeep?

    Gosh where to stop???:eek::eek::eek:

thanks fish slapped.. when i bought my .17 i went bigger on the scope in the anticapation of going bigger with the gun some day...... so although i'll be purchasing the rifle, i'll be stripping the .17 of all it's bling and retiring it to the back of the gun cabinet till i can afford to put a proper scope on the..223.... so my BSA 6-24x50 will be making the move as will the lightforce set up, sling and all... and then slowly 'i'll re bling the .17...... as i'll be using it 4 foxes mainly a moderator will be first on my wish list..... so if you or any one has any recommendations i'd be only to delighted to here about them....... scopes well what can i say, in time the bsa is going back on the .17 and i'll be wanting something with higer magnification for the .223 but cosidering i'll probably end up spending the same as the gun on it..... its a while away..... what ever it will be it'll have to be good enough to make the move to a larger rifle some day......(still doing the lotto and dreaming).....

    back to the moderator....

does any one know the cost of threading the barrel for one? and what kinda money will i be spending on a decent can.....

Cost of threading is about €150 that's with new muzzel target crown as well. That's what I've been quoted.

I'm getting the ASE Ultr NightStar 5/8" thread it's on the way from the UK @€;280
