    Amazing read from RTE http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0408/politics.html
A Fine Gael TD has claimed that when he first became vocal about the corrupt relationship he noticed between Fianna Fáil council officials and developers he received several threats.

John Deasy told the Dáil that one of the threats was 'on the floor of this House'.

He said his first experience of Fianna Fáil and planning happened in Dublin Airport about nine years ago.

He said he had been with two Fianna Fáil councillors who had said, with a straight face, that taking money was the way of the world and that he should accept it.

He said that opened his eyes and he began to see the relationships in his constituency between Fianna Fáil, developers and council officials.

Mr Deasy said he began to be vocal about it. He had got abuse and intimidation and threats, one of which was on the floor of the Dáil.

He found it was a very unpopular thing to do because he was questioning a system that hundreds of people feed from.

He said the Fianna Fáil councillors protected and fed-off the local authority officials, who in turn fed-off developers.

He said that if a person questioned that, they were branded as being against jobs and development and as being consumed with negativity.

Now, he said, families were going to have to pay for decades for the stupidity and excess of this potentially criminal behaviour.

Well, we know the answer to the last paragraph, just look at any Dublin suburb built since the 80's, atrocious planning.

We know the cosy relationship between certain FF'ers and developers but why don't he name names and why now?

He will certainly be attacked by FF over this as 'mudslinging', and when he is he should use his Dáil privilege and name them. Otherwise it is just mudslinging, and completely useless.

The dogs on the street know about this, there's nothing new in what he's saying unless he decides to name names. Mr Deasy has casual regard for the law as well, he was smoking in the Dáil bar days after the smoking ban was brought in.

Deasy is one to talk. Down in this neck of the woods it did/does not matter what party as crossparty co=operation existed. FF FG Lab.
