    Hello,

I am looking to purchase photos from iStockphoto.com for use on my website.

There is a choice of sizes:

    Small: 566 x 848
    Medium: 1132 x 1696

Obviously with medium size being a larger file, would this cause my webpage to load significantly slower than if I used the smaller size pics ?

    Many thanks

For webpages the smaller ones should be fine they are still quite big dimension wise as long as you were putting them just in part of the page so you could reduce them down to fit your needs. The Medium ones you could resize them which would reduce the overall file size and make it load quicker than before. But in your case the smaller ones should be fine for a website.

Really depends on what you want to do with them.

If you are just going to pop them between text on your site, the smaller size will do. But I would imagine you'd have to reduce it more again in order to make it fit in.

If you plan to use it as part of your design, I'd go for the medium size.

Small should be fine, but you really need to crop or resize to suit your design requirements. keep filesize down by using JPG setting of 60% (medium).
