    hey going over natural selection!totally confused doh...my book nd grind notes are diff!can nybody just give a brief analysis of it!?with the observations linked with the conclusions!any help would be appreciated!thanks!

    species have a high reproductive rate, produce a large number of offspring, depite that only a small number survive, this is due to competition for limited resources, parents pass on variations, these are inherited by the offspring, if these variations are favourable and best suited to the environment that type of species will survive, reproduce and pass on the favourable variations to their offspring the other ones that are less suited to the environment will die off. natural selection has occured, nature selects the fit and rejects the unfit

    add at the start, population numbers remain fairly constant due to a high number dieing as a result of competion for limited resources

    Darwins book, the origins of species encompassed 2 main ideas:

    1. Variation occured
    2. Natural selection is the mechanism by which it occured

    Darwin found that species become better adapted their enviroment over a long periods of time through natural election.

    According to Darwin, life evolved by the gradual accumulation of minute changes. Natural selection operating in different environments in varying contexts could account for the diversity of life.

    Method of proof:

    Penadactyl Limb:

    This basically consists of 1 bone in the upper portion, 2 in the lower and 5 digits. Variations of the penadactyl limb existed because it operated in differing environments form the descendants of a common ancstor. Similar fundamental design indicates a similar origin.
