difference between these 2 pci cards

    Hi there, currently have a g wireless card in the pc i do(via pci) and its utter crap connection, if I bring the laptop down with wireless n it gets a great singal.
    SO I am going to buy a wireless n card for the pc.
    can anyone tell me the difference's between these two cards are they both for pc?

    I'm thinking the above one is for laptop only?
    I want to get it cause its cheaper

    it says its pci express.. I am not too sure if my pc is pci express, looked at the mobo box an it doens't say anyhting about it being pci express. so will it work?

    They're both for desktop PC, not laptops. They are however for different slots. Tell us your mobo model and we can advise more on which will fit.

    Yea I thought they were different slots, the cheaper one looks like it would fit it(but thought it was for a laptop only) the mobo is a asus a7n8x

    That's an AGP and PCI only board, you can't take the PCI-E one.

    So I have to go with the cheaper one? thats the one i wanted to go for.. just taut that it was for a lappie only. thanks for the backup mate :)

    Bear in mind also, the PCI card is 802.11g, the PCI-E card is 802.11n, potentially 54mbps versus 270mbps. You may want to look further afield for a PCI 802.11n card if you already have 802.11n kit as you suggest in your first post.

    are you sure? the pci card is
    D-Link RangeBooster N 650 Wireless
    PCI, 802.11n (draft 2.0)

    and the other one is

    D-Link Xtreme N PCI Express Desktop
    Adapter, PCIe, 802.11n (draft 2.0)

    So they're both "n" series?

    Like the pc downstair will be just used for internet broseing and the current card in it is wofal(get less than 1 meg to it!) so am i right in thinking that n series is a stronger singal too, as I would not be using the comp to stream or anything

    btw, the router i have is the dlink 635-range booster..
