Fasting for Diabetes test?

I had a bllod test last week and my doc has requested me to have a diabetes test in the morning as blood sugar levels is of concern but i don,t actually know what the level is yet.
Anyway i have the test in the morning and i am now fasting for a 12 hour period before the test.
Does anyone know can i dring tea coffee or water during the fast? My ma says i cannot but i think she is incorrect?
Please someone tell me quick i'd love a cuppa tea or coffee
