    on setanta sports 1 KO @ 15.00

evans will probly be out (doubtful)
    Rio is out

seems Rooney will be fit (thank god)

    so
    vds
    nev--oshea--vidic---evra
    ronaldo--fletch--carrick----park
    tevez
    rooney

    probly will be the above
nev at RB is a big worry for me

heres a low down of the press conference
Rio Ferdinand is back in training, but Sir Alex Ferguson is already planning for the England international to miss United's visit to Sunderland.

The influential centre-back has missed the Reds' last two games, but he is more likely to return in next Wednesday's clash with Porto than on Saturday.

With Jonny Evans also struggling with an ankle injury, Sir Alex told his pre-match press conference that John O'Shea could partner Nemanja Vidic in the centre of defence against the Black Cats.

The potential for more defensive re-shuffles is tempered by the availability of Wayne Rooney for the trip to Wearside, with Sir Alex laughing off suggestions that he would miss the match with a rib injury.

There are also comebacks looming for Rafael and Wes Brown which, along with the impending returns of Ferdinand and Dimitar Berbatov, gives the Reds' squad a healthier appearance.

"Rio started running today," said Sir Alex. "Rafael started training on Tuesday - he will be available for next weekend, and Wes will start football training next week."

I think Park should play in front of Neville to offer him some protection. I can't see Ronaldo tracking back too much.

I think O'Shea and Vidic should do well against Kenwyne Jones. I cant think of anyone with the pace to trouble Neville as last week Ash Young was a total disaster.

    Must win game.

Cant see united having a clean sheet tbh so an entertaining 1-1

1-1 at 90 mins, Macheda to come on and score the winner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Neville hopefully will have gained something from the two games he's played, but if he hasn't well really really struggle in defence.

I'm really hoping Anderson is back fit as I think he'd make a big difference in this game, he'd be great to have for Porto.

I really can't see Fletcher and Carrick starting, Scholes or Giggs will play in the middle, or maybe Gibson.

Tough one with Sunderland fighting for survival but i reckon we'll win it 1-2.

Cisse is still amongst the fastest players in the league, Richardson is no slouch either. Watching neville of late, i'd fancy Malbranque against him too i think

    1-1 from me too.

Didn't realise that the match was on Setanta 1 - happy days!

Think headshot has the team spot on.

Praying, i mean really praying Rooney is fit.
Great to hear Wes is on the way back

Cisse doesnt play on the left and Richardson plays CM.

Although, even if Andy Reid plays on Neville i reckon he might cause him some pace problems.

3-1 to the world champions. . . Worried bout the defence tho

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Worried about this game. Has banana skin written all over it. I will say United to edge it but I'm not too confident...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,422 ✭✭✭Fenix

I'm quietly confident, bring back the utd of old, after a dissapointing performance in Europe, to come back and confortably win a potentialy stickly domestic game. Heres hoping anyway. Glad to hear Rafael is back training, i'd play a 50% fit Raf/Wes over Neville.

    Actually no, thats harsh.

    40% fit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,247 ✭✭✭ROCKMAN

If we/utd cannot deal with Sunderland then we have no hope in the title race. No disrespect to them but for Christ sake if we are nervous facing teams like Sunderland we may as well hand the title to Chelsea now.
Enough quality in the squad to deal with this game.
Comfortable and professional 0-2 win :D:pac:

I don't like Sunderland cause it always reminds of that nerve-wrecking match when Vidic scored the late winner!

Yep they are a park the bus side under sbragia. That's why I'm not that worried about our recent defending lately cause I don't think Sunderland will attack much.

I'm quietly confident and wouldn't at all be surprised if we get a good win.

Wont be hedging my bets though, it could be tricky.

    Ronaldo on the bench.

Hmm... Considering he is our goals, im not so sure about that one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

I'm thinking Sunderland could actually attack today... They'll know our defense is especially vulnerable today, and we're generally weak recently. If they do attack then hopefully we'll get them on the counter.... though without Ronaldo it won't be as potent.....

Do you have the rest of the team?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

No, Jeff Stelling just said "Ronaldo doesnt look too happy, and thats because he starts on the bench today."

Shouldnt be too long before we get the team.

    Foster

    Neville
    Evans
    Vidic
    O'Shea

    Park
    Scholes
    Carrick
    Rooney

    Tevez
    Berbatov

Tevez, Rooney and Berbatov? Crikey. I thought he was still injured (Berbatov). I think his inclusion could be crucial, actually. He brings so many players into the game, a good calm head to boot.

Bench: PIG, Ronaldo, Anderson, Giggs, Nani, Evra, Macheda

Well thats an unexpected team. Great to see Evra get a rest, it couldnt hurt Ronaldo either.

That team should put away Sunderland, I expect Rooney to start on the left, Tevez and Berbatov up front.

Post up decent streams :) There's some listed here: www.rojadirecta.com

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

    Berbatov???!!!

Where did that come from? Out for i thought i read he would be out for 2 weeks, then that he might make the Porto game, now he is starting?

I have to say resting Evra is needed. We have The Andershow and Ronaldo on the bench should it go pear shaped, Macheda too ;).

The team is good enough to win well. Come on United!

EDIT: The stream i will be using: http://www.atdhe.net/live-tv-6160.html Atdhe.net are normally very good.

Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov. If they can't muster up a goal or two between them against Sunderland then f**k it we don't deserve to win anything. Berbatov must show his worth to the cause today.

    Totally agree.

Tevez and Berba were effective when on the pitch against Stoke. Big day for Berbatov.

After that Blackburn capitulation we need a big victory today. Surprised but glad to see Berba back.

I'm nervous, but we should really have the win in us.

Sunderland aren't so much falling, as gleefully catapulting themselves down the mountsainside towards the dark and gloomy valley that is the Championship.

Meh. )probably being rested for Porto). As I said, if we can't score with our three main strikers on the pitch then we deserve F-all.

I expect Jonny Evans to play well today. Having spent last season at Sunderland he should know their players well and not be nervous.
