ANOTHER silly maths question..

    ye so, functions and graphs this time..
    Now this should be easy enough.. but I'm silly, so apparently not so easy for me ;p

    The graph of the function f(x) = x^2 + bx + c is shown..
    Find the values of b and c...

    if the graph isn't clear enough, the curve goes through (0,0) and (5,0)

    Put in the values, form two equations and use similtanious equations to get a result?

    :facepalm: ... thanks jack, dunno why I didn't sub in both x and y values.. I just subbed in the x value for both points and when it didn't look how I expected it to, I came here ;p laziness I guess ^_^

    The curve x^2+bx+c cuts the x-axis at 0 and 5, thus x=0 and x=5 will solve the equation x^2+bx+c=0

    Substituting:
    (0)^2+b(0)+c=0
    0+0+c=0
    c=0

    Now substituting x=5
    (5)^2+b(5)+0=0
    25+5b=0
    5b=-25
    b=-5
