Hi all im coming near the end of my course in Holistic massage & im thinking of working doing pregnancy massage just wondering would there be much interest in it ? Obviously you won't be lieing down on your precious bump I have a specially designed massage chair so your bump won't be squashed. I will probably do a talk at anti-natal classes etc to explain what it is all about. Would you go for one, if not why not ? I know if I had know of anyone doing them while I was pregnant I would have been straight over knocking on there door :D my back used to be killing me.

I had one when I was 27 weeks pregnant with the twins, and full term in belly size; it was actually an exam for trainee massage therapists specialising in pregnancy massage. I was on all fours for some of it, on a fitness ball for some of it, and on my side for some of it. It was heavenly, and got mr my last full nights sleep until... well, I haven't had a full night's sleep since! :P!

I would recommend it, but I think a lot will depend on two factors: 1. money and 2. time
    1. Money- pregnant ladies tend to want to save for the baby and everything it will need, and may not want to spend a lot on a massage; you may want to aim your marketing at the expectant fathers/ families/ co-workers who would buy it for a treat for the pregnant lady.
    2. Time: Pregnant ladies alreayd need to take time off work for hospital appointments, so most of your clientele will want evening or weekend appointments. You might have good success if you could do the massages at the client's home!

Thanks Silja for the advice & kind words, I should have said that I would be doing it in the evening as I work during the day. Im about 2 mins drive from the maternity hospital in Portlaoise so im hoping that would be an advantage that when people come to Portlaoise for there anti-natal classes they could pop over to me afterwards ( heres hoping anyway :D). Good idea about tempting the Daddys to spoil the Mammys with a gift ill work on them aswell in the anti-natal classes. Thanks again & if your every down this way your more than welcome to a freebie massage.
