Deadlifts looked strong dude. You're an even bigger wimp than I thought you were tho after seeing that 210. Can't believe you bailed on it while it was still moving smoothly. Defo there on comp day anyway.
Have you done 140 yet? Also might I suggest a westside template after the comp, you seem to like maxing regularly, it could be a good fit. :D

Why would he do that?? Look at the progress he's been making. Why change for the sake of change when he's improving at a ridiculously fast rate doing what he's doing?

yea i felt like a right tool after it to be honest. it took me about 5 minutes to convince myself not to retake it.

That 200 dead was fast by anyones standards. Cant believe you didnt finish the 210, but you should be able to nail it at the comp

I was having a bit of fun, considering how often he likes to go for maxes. I don't care what programme he runs so long as it works for him.

Fair play with the deadlifting man. What kinda program are you running? (I'm in the market for something new:pac:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,462 ✭✭✭cardio,shoot me

5/3/1 man! works well , i like adding a bit of volume after aswell.

as i said earlier im thinking of giving a sheiko a run, maybe smolov, next year my volume will be higher, as im not allowed work the weekends so ill have an extra trainin day.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,420 ✭✭✭Magic Eight Ball

I put my stats into a Sheiko excel sheet a while back and it looked like a savage program (I love volume) See I didn't really like 5/3/1 because the lack of it.
Is smolov the squatting 4 days a week one? That looks horrible :pac:

    shouting "**** pretty vigorously".:D

Fair play though, you really are tearing it up dude.

Incidentally, why can't you work at the weekends next year?

bar x 5 high bar barefoot
bar x 5 low bar barefoot
    60 x 5 high bar adistars
    60 x 2 low bar adistars.
    90 x 3 low bar
    100 x 2 low bar
    120 x 1 low bar belt on
    140 x 1
    150 x 1 10KG PR
    140 x 1

    Bench
    60 x 5 paused.

    Thoughts:
    easy session.
    140s where both easy.
    the 150 was grand aswell.
to give an idea of how it felt, i was confident i could have doubled it.

160+ is the goal now. no more weights over 50% of max now

Randomly thought of this, from tnation

    Get Bloated for Big Lifts
The photo of Joe DeFranco talking with NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Brian Cushing in DeFranco's garage-style gym is a bit misleading.
"It looks like we're talking about advanced lifting methods, but I'm really telling him how to load up on sushi and soy sauce the night before his NFL Combine lifting tests," admits DeFranco. "And it worked pretty damn well."
According to him, the high sodium content made Cushing retain water (and become heavier) the morning of testing. This extra "bloat" translated into bigger lifts.

"Both of Cush's PR's in the 225-pound bench press test came after a night of sushi binge eating," says DeFranco. "In college he benched 225 for 36 reps and last year at the NFL Combine he got 225 for 35 reps."
Naturally, TMUSCLE strength specialist Dave Tate likes the idea.
"Sodium and carb-loading before a max lift will give you a huge advantage," he says.
Tate recommends eating the following every two hours the day before you test a max-effort lift:
    1-2 packs ramen noodles
    1/4 bag salt vinegar chips
    Gatorade G2

    cheers kieran

    Heres me little update.
    had an okish day.

    Squat:
warm ups went well, finished up at 130 and smoked it. i went 145 for my opener but i got called on a technicality(forgot to take off elbow sleeves, racked too early). second lift i took 155 and got it , bit of a struggle. i had a bit of a conference with Joe and the video, i was thikngi 165, he said 160, i settled at 162.5 and absolutly grinded the ****e out of it, wasnt letting it go without a fight. unfortunatly it took a lot out of me which affected my bench.
    so far i had
    155/162.5 32.5kg comp pr

    Bench:
absolute freaking disaster, warm ups went crap, hips crampt, arms shaking, elbows ****ed. i dropped my opener to 92.5 and i almost bombed on it. got it ,but i didnt pause, and i lifted my head, luckily two didnt see it and i got a very shaky 2 whites. i attempted two 97.5s a missed both. unlucky, but feck it, i had my opener, thats that. i was actually terrified because kieran thought i had bombed so i had to recheck after my deadlifts.
    so i had
    92.5kg 5 kg comp pr

    Deadlift:
this is where i stole the show, warmed up to 180 and it felt easy. i opened at 200kg and smoked it!! i got the national deadlift record on Wilks here. took alook at the video and went 210 and got that with a bit of a struggle, i went 215 for my third but unfortunatly i couldnt set the belt up well and it felt really loose, so i lost it just before my knees, next time.
    so i had
    200 210 30kg comp pr

if i maths are correct i totalled 465kg with a 67.5kg total pr. and qualified for the worlds.

big shout out/thanks to everyone who helped me today with lift picks and warm ups and motivation. but a special thanks to Joe and Anthony for helping load bars , and recording all my lifts, joe should be on the payroll at this stage!
