Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi, I'm hoping for some advice ... I have a canon 400d, which I just use for family shots, scenic, etc. I'd like to get a flash for it, but don't want to spend more than a €100.

I saw this one "Nissin Di466" for £89 and was thinking of getting it.

Has anyone any comments on it? Is there another one in my price range that I should get instead?

Are 2nd hand flashes ok to buy? If so, what should I be looking for in my price range again ....

    thanks for any advice,

    Sunpak do similar models.

Is there a canon equivalent to the nikon Sb400? Have used the larger 600 and much preferred the former for simplicity

this one for less than e20? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12302

I wouldn't connect anyone other than the same brand to my camera (nikon flashes on nikon cameras, canon flashes on canon cameras) some voltages going on that can fry your camera's circuitery
but using them with a flash slave like this one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8187 has worked for me for years

I would try Sunpak pf30x. Simple to use, and fully dedicated. New on Ebay for 80E
Nissin doesn't sound to good to me.

9 second refresh time on that one - as oppose to 2.5 seconds for the one the OP posted - 20 quid aint bad if you dont mind waiting!!! Will soon feel like forever refreshing when you are trying to get a group photo and keep everyones attention!! Would be a big improvement on the camera's flash though! ;)

Well, personally i like to get 3 or 4 quick shots of a group in quick succession - very rarely you'll get a perfect one first time - can use ther 2nd 3rd and 4th to fix up people looking in wrong direction or shut eyes!!
Just giving the pro's and con's!! Thats all!! Cheap and cheerful!

    Whats wrong with Nissin?

I've bought this one ... but its on back-order, so can cancel if I want to (before they ship it of course.)

    http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_1&products_id=103968

It has a guide num of 44, which a friend recommended that I go for as high as poss, and it has a swivel head. Are Nissin a bad name? Can I use it on both my dslr and my slr (canon again.)? Will I mess up my dslr?
I'm worried now ... I thought I could just get a flash for canon fit, and that was it!

No worries, never used Nissin before, the specs sound quiet good, slave function might be useful too.
The only reason I recommended Sunpak was because I used it before, and many others too.
Is the off camera stand kind of tripod for flash, or not. I can see it is included in box, but not sure if I am right...
I hope you get it quickly, and share the results, the price is really good!

I'm a bit sceptical of this to be honest.

Guys, I've just noticed that Canon's new 270EX speedlite will be available from May, and should retail for about €170. Might be worth holding out for?

    Hi,

I just got a Nikon d90. I also have a Sunpak PF30x flash with 'Canon E-TTl II' written on the underside. Is this flash compatible with the d90?

I'm new to all this and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
