Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good effort. I would agree that Hughes made some questionable decisions...but at the same time there was more than enough chances created to win it comfortably.

The Chairman over for the match, Now that City's season is more or less finished,

I think he might be Finishing Hughes before he leaves to make the trip worthwhile.

Nah it'd be pointless sacking him now might as well wait till season ends

Hughes won't be sacked after that performance. The players saved his skin this time.

Given we ended up going out anyway, I'd nearly have preferred we got hammered and him given the bullet.

not me a year is too short to judge any manager and weve been down that road too many times before.

some game tonight, everyone firing on all cylinders. but richards does my head in.

Have to say fair play to the fans. The atmosphere was brilliant.

On show in the crowd were a number of inflatibles including -

    Bananas
    Paddling Pool
Giant Cock with Fergie's face on it
    Kangaroo
    Camel
    Dragon
    Beach Balls
    Rubber Rings
    Candy Sticks
    Giant Footballs

    Lol at the paddling pool!

If this was a Newcastle fan talking about our manager like that on here we would be slaughtered. All our fans would immiediately be branded as impatient, over-demanding, and undeserving.

Whatever happened to giving a manager time! Everton and Rome weren't built in a season you know!

Anyway, who would you replace Hughes with?

    Bring back Sven?

Sure whatever happened to Save our Sven?

    .. no, I jest my friend !

We're about 11 points worse off in the league this year with a significantly better squad.

We now have no chance of being in Europe next season.

That fact, combined with his obvious tactical ineptitiude, leads me to believe he is not the man for the job.

Hard to know. Van Gaal? Worked wonders with AZ and is leaving in the summer. Mancini? There are options.

    Lol

Don't get me wrong, I want stability, but not at the expense of success.

a quarter final in the uefa cup isnt successful enough for a first season in charge. come on xavi its not like we were chasing any success before hand, it takes time even with money behind. hughes inherited a lot of players that arent good enough. another season at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

I can't agree on another season.

Look at it this way - how long do you think the Arabs will hang around without some form of success? 2 maybe 3 years? We need a trophy/final of some kind or top 4 challenge next year in order to maintain their interest. Midtable mediocrity simply won't cut it.

I don't believe Hughes will bring us the required success, and that's based on our current league position, the points tally, our exit from the League Cup at the first hurdle (to Brighton btw), and our embarrassing humiliation in the FA Cup.
