    To whom would i address a complaint about the practises of a health insurance company?

    Did you perhaps first make a complaint to the company itself first, most places will request/require you do this first

    there is also an insurance ombudsman here who you can forward your case to but you must exhaust the formal complaints process with the company first.

    The Health Insurance Authority regulates the private medical insurance providers. However, as with all regulators, you'll be required to exhaust the company's complaints procedure before they look at your case themselves. Otherwise you'll find that they'll just refer your complaint onto the company you're complaining about. You'll most likely find the complaints procedure of the company you wish to complain about on the company website somewhere...
