Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are there any longer distance duathlons in Ireland?

I was hoping to get an entry into the Highland Cross in Scotland (http://www.highlandcross.co.uk/frame.htm) this year, but didn't get in. It's a 50 mile duathlon from the West to East coast of Scotland - 20 miles of running, followed by 30 miles on the bike. Is there anything similar that anyone knows of in Ireland?

There seems to be only really an appetite for shorter distance duathlons in Ireland. This year is the first year in ages there was a standard distance duathlon (10k/40k/5k). Most people seem to, rightly or wrongly, view them only as a stepping stone into triathlon.

There's a list of events here:

    http://www.triathlonireland.com/event_calendar/EventCalendar.html

Longest duathlon on the list is the Northest Duathlon in Donegal - 10km/40km/5km - but it took place on 5th April so you've missed it for this year.

Longest duathlon for the rest of the year appears to be the Rock Duathlon in Wicklow on 26th April - 5km/20km/5km.

However, distances in both events fall well short of the event you linked to.
