Got a text offering free wifi to O2 customers from bitbuzz hotspots. The page the text directs me to - http://www.bitbuzz.com/iphone/ - says:
Bitbuzz in conjunction with O2 Ireland are pleased to offer O2 iPhone Customers free* Wi-Fi access.

but that * doesn't seem to lead anywhere.

Does anyone know what 'free*' means in the context?

Hi, got the same message today, not sure why we got it, that was always there and mention on their website and forum.

The free could be because for Contract customers get them as long as they are on the contract but Speak easy only get it for 12 months.

Anyone used it? Are the wifi sites all over the place or only a few?

There seems to be loads of places in Dublin anyway. Mostly cafes and bars, unsurprisingly enough.

Might be useful if you find yourself in one of those places. The Dublin Airport one I'll try out next month!

I wonder if this will work if you're on O2 with an iphone but not on one of their expensive iphone tarriffs?

Before full access is granted when using it the first time - you have to register your device via a webpage that appears in Safari when you encounter their wireless. This includes entering your number so I assume they check to see if you're on a iPhone tariff at least.

That's been going since Day One. In Limerick, I've found one hotspot (Glentworth Hotel). Otherwise, pretty useless.

This is NOT a new offer. As far as I can remember, O2 claim on their website that they offer 1 year free bitbuzz wi-fi for all prepay customer who got iphone.
    Never used it though.

I wonder why I suddenly got the text... maybe I was passing by a hotspot or something.
