Leevale Open Day 2009

hi guys,
I live in Limerick and am invovled in helping out with our local athletic club, and I will be going to the Leevale Open Day 2009 on this Sunday the 19th April 2009, it will be held in the UCC Track, Cork. We need to be arriving there at about 10.30am. Im not familiar with Cork at all. We will be travelling by car. What would be the best way (ie simplest) way to get to the UCC track?
Is the UCC track on the UCC grounds (I presume it is but in some colleges the sports area is not close to the college area....)?
Would anybody have any directions coming from Limerick?
Lastly, we will be finished up about 2 or 3pm. I will have my 4 young kids. We will probaly drive straight back to Limerick. Apart from Fota (the kids were thre alreayd this week) is there anything really great for the kids to do in the general area on Sunday afternoon before we drive back to Limerick?

You may have to find parking before you get to the track as that area is quite busy and they might not be allowing parking near to the track.

You could take a visit to Fitzgearlds Park which is right next to the track (see Map), this was the location for the World Exhibition in 1902 http://www.corkpastandpresent.ie/history/historyofcorkcity/early20thcentury/corkinthe20thcentury/ There is a playground there and room to play football etc and a cafe.

Lifetime Lab is just out the road. And sometimes the Glucksman have events for kids at the weekend too; about ten kiddie mins walk from the track.

Thanks guys, here is what I have come up so far, does this look correct do you think?

Directions for the Leevale Open Day, Sunday the 19th April, driving from Limerick:
This event will be held in the Mardyke Arena, which is on the UCC Track, in Cork.
(The Mardyke Arena is located very close to the UCC college campus, but is not actually in the UCC campus).
Take the N20 from Limerick to Cork and when you arrive in Cork City, drive into the City Centre, and look out for the Grand Parade. Drive up the Grand Parade and take a right onto Washington Street, and then drive onto the Western Road. Once on the Western Road, drive on this road for approx. 1.5km and you will see the UCC campus on your left.
Follow-on and you will come to a junction with lights. This junction is is approx. 500m after the main gate for UCC campus on the Western Road.
Take a right at this junction and almost immediately you will turn right right into the Mardyke campus.

The map starts on the approach to the city limits on the main Mallow road, just follow the route I had laid out as some of the roads near the mardyke are pedestrian access only and if you go beyond the turn at the UCC gates ( indicated on the map as the turn from Washington Street (this is incorrect though, the correct name here is Western Rd, darn Google Maps) to Mardyke Walk) you will not be able to park close to the track at all as the only vehicle access to the area around the track is via the route I have indicated.

TBH the Gluicksman would be a bit a waste, its amazing how UCC will whore themselves out in the name of money.
