hey folks. for a while now i've had this problem where thumbnails for videos
don't appear sometimes on youtube. it happens on all browsers i've tried
    but is intermittent.

    i'm on BT's 7.6Mbit/s package

is anyone else having this problem? is it a YT thing or a BT thing or
    something else?

    thanks :o

ok i think i fixed this one (i hope).

i may be about to speak fluent b0LL1x so caveat emptor! :D

this seems to be a very specific problem with some older belkin routers.

youtube thumbnail images come from a range of servers *.ytimg.com

when you go to some YT pages, *many* http requests are made to these servers.

firefox by default allows 30 simultaneous http requests - this is too many
for some of these routers under certain conditions.

eventually, the router will gag on this and see it as a syn flood attack!

you can get around it in firefox by going to about:config and changing the
    network.http.max-connections to about 10

not sure how to do this in other browsers...
