Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi guys, loving the photography part of boards and I have learnt a lot from you all over the months.
I am looking for a small favour, a friend of mine is in college studying photography in Dublin and as part of his college year he has to do a weeks work experience in a studio and and on a shoot.
Niall is having dificulty in getting this work experience as they say there all doing very little.
He is only looking for experience, not money, would anyone have any work experience going his way , a few days even, just to get him started.
Would be great if anyone had any ideas, hes a great guy and will make a great photographer, many thanks and I look forward to reading your posts, cheers

Tell him get a portfolio to together and call into a few local photographers and make sure he explains himself,I think it's always harder to say no face to face

    is it only studio work?

There have been a few posters in a similar position in the past who have spent time with newspaper staff photographers (local rather than national) and I think it worked out well for them - even ended up with publication IIRC. Just an idea if it wasn't necessarily studio work.

    Don't be so dismissive :)

OP, don't forget the various commercial studio's, ones that may not be advertised as much as the portraiture ones about. Ask, ask, and ask nicely :)

It would help if we knew where he is located.

I'd suggest try the local village photographers, i.e. I live in Lucan and the local photog is Jim Sweeney with a studio in the centre of the town. Photographers like these continuously work with their regular clients and should be willing to help, I heard he takes on people to help with weddings too. Dont know if that is true but worth a shot.
