Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

One problem with it is that's it called the Aviva Stadium.... It'll always be Landsdown Road.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

They're paying corporate sponsorship for naming rights?
They same company that laid off hundreds and outsourced to India?

Not realy a soccer post, but for shame Aviva!

Times they are a changing, no affinity with a name personally anyway...Dalymount was always the true home of Irish soccer, Lansdowne the "ra ra Rugger" boys

Great just like the Emirates...just what we need a stadium with little or no atmosphere.

Obviously as it's on a slightly smaller scale but it'll be a standout stadium in it's own right....especially when compared to the flat pack garbage that's sprung up throughout the English game in recent years

Not that impressed with it to be honest, a big improvement obviosuly on Landsdowne but just doesn't stand out for me at the moment, suppose wait until it is completed,I might change my mind.

Looking forward to seeing what the facilities are like.

Was it down to planning that the bit behind the goal is lower?

Actually changed my mind, just had another look of the images, the only thing that is a bit annoying is behind the goal

Go have a look at it if you get the time, those images on the web don't do it justice....preferrably from a distance in the Ringsend area

Not sure if I'm looking at the right website,as very little info from Aviva about the new stadium, anyone have links to the premium seats area that might have a video/images, mad prices for the premium seats when you consider the matches you get.

They showed a fly through film of the new stadium but typical FAI the power went and they made a bags of it

I received a letter from the FAI asking if I wanted to sign up to the premium seats for €120 monthly installments over 100 months. No thanks.

They should have called it Hibernian Stadium - the same company but a much better name as Hibernian actually means something.

Is that a guaranteed seat to all events held there then or just Ireland games ? And is it forever or just a good while ?

Its only football as far as I know. Rugby is a seperate ticket altogether. Its a 10 year ticket.

That is far too much for that. Twelve grand to watch games sporadically for 10 years.

and factor in that quite a few of these games will be friendly matches.

Funny as it would be (and its quite likely to happen) if the 10 year €12K ticket thing doesn't come closing to selling out, unfortunately the stadium will still have to be paid for.

So all it will mean is that pleb seat tickets (that most fans here end up getting) for the 4 or 5 home games in each qualifying campaign will have to be pitched €20 or so higher than currently envisaged. :(

By the way, will the Celtic Cup Home Nations 4 tournament thingy that we are going to host once every ~8 years (I think) be included in the €12K price?

it's obscene what they are charging. the prices for croker were already ridiculous, but that 10 year thing works out nearly three times as expensive if my math is correct.

methinks the FAI are seriously gonna struggle for the next 5 years, they banked so much on those ludacrous revenue projections that i think they will go very near to the brink.

When I did the tour they said the FAI had the money already to pay for the stadium and the momey from the seats would be put back into grass routes football.

Not sure what parts of that I believe

Im not sure if all the info being posted in regards to the costs at the Aviva stad are correct,12k gets you a seat. It will cost you a further 2k a year for your tickets to the matches. You will get options on any other event bar rugby, not sure how they will do this as the rugby have sold all their premium seats and they will also have options on other events.

Any way as a group booker since 1984 I will not be taking up their fantastic offer.

Good idea the name change as Lansdowne was alwaysthe home of irish rugby.

There's strong rumours circulating about that many of the seats at the very back of the upper tier will have restricted views of the far side of the pitch. I have nothing substantial to back it up but read it on archiseek.com (the Irish architecture forum).

    If it's true, it's a bloody joke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,909 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Typical half arsed job if that's true. Did anyone expect anything less?

the ten year tickets will include 2 world cup qualifying campaigns,3 euro champs campaigns,10 fai cup final ,the 4 associations tournament and all friendly games.its a joke what they are looking for.would there be 10 good games in the ten years

From what I've seen and read (both in general press and engineering press) that isnt true. A simple clue is now its built.

The on thing I would say is that rugby and the up and unders may suffer (the ball goes real high in the air or something)

I think people are underestimating just how great the stadium is going to look when it's finished. Even people I've been talking to over in England say it'll be quite the place when it's finished, and I agree with them. The swooping roof towards the back of the northside goal will be really unique and distinctive.

The roof is only going on now and so it would make sense it hasn't been reported yet. That being said, I don't have anything to substantiate it bar the comments being made on another forum. Watch this space I suppose..

Ste, thats for a seat on the half way line, and yes it is 2k a year for that seat. It goes down to 7k and 500 per year for thecheapest seat with various options in between.

Aerial photos here, for anyone interested.

    Nice, uh, ceiling.

Having spent quite a few nights getting soaked in Lansdowne, and then reaching for the binoculars at Croker, I can't wait until this is finished. I just hope it has some atmosphere.

    http://www.faivantageclub.com/vantage_options.php
It's not very clear how much the tickets would be for the Vantage Club.

Are they saying that that the Vantage One option costs €12,000 initially and then an annual fee of €2,000 giving a total of €32,000? That can't be right.

    stadium.jpg

    Vantage One
    Initial Fee: €12,000 – Annual Fee: €2,000
RPI / VAT is not applicable, first payment of €6,000 (50% of Initial fee)

    Vantage Two
    Initial Fee: €9,000 – Annual Fee: €1,000
RPI / VAT is not applicable, first payment of €4,500 (50% of Initial fee)

    Vantage Three
    Initial Fee: €7,000 – Annual Fee: €750
RPI / VAT is not applicable, first payment of €3,500 (50% of Initial fee)

    Vantage Four
    Initial Fee: €7,000 – Annual Fee: €500
RPI / VAT is not applicable, first payment of €3,500 (50% of Initial fee)

Ah right. Thats just a different way of explaining the same thing. The 12k up front plus 2k a year is not the 12k ticket thats being advertised. The 12k ticket is the 7k + 500 a year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,346 ✭✭✭ErinGoBrath

My god, who in the FAI came up with this price plan? Even during the Celtic tiger these prices would be frowned upon.

12000 for 10 years sitting behind the goals?
32000 for 10 years at the half way line?

A complete and utter joke. I'd question the sanity of any person (non coporate) that signs up to any of these packages.

A friend had read somewhere that the vantage club sales figures so far were around the 1000 mark however this included expressions of interest via email. Unbelievable. I'll see if I can find an official source for this.

I think you'll struggle for official figures. They are being very coy, just saying that they are 'on target'. Hurry, get one before they are gone.

If <1000 is the correct figure, then it must be a disaster as thats around the €10M mark and they must have spent a good chunk of that on the advertising budget already.

The only way I would even consider paying the €12k for the ten year tickets is if it included all rugby tickets too and was in the "Vantage 1" section. Anybody who is willing to pay more than that has too much money, or they need their heads checked.
