Boiled peanuts

    BOILED PEANUTS is traditionally a SOUTHERN USA THING, but the are wonderful. I was curious if you Irish folk have ever had them??

    Never heard of em either.... do you recall the brand?
    Those I do miss Nobbys Nuts Beer Nuts, in Oz... they were nice!!

    Get a crock pot and put in 2 pounds of RAW peanuts.

    Fill it with water.

    Put in 3/4 cups of salt. Throw in other seasonings too like hot sauce, garlic, etc. Experiment with different seasonings, but don't over do it.

    BOIL THE STUFF for 24 hours.

    They are soft, mushy, and salty, but are VERY VERY good.

    I'm 38 and have eaten them since I was a little kid, and they are to DIE for.

    Yes, both terms are correct!

    Most of the time you get unshelled peanuts they are cooked/roasted, and most shelled ones are not cooked.
