Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Strangely enough, the answer is that at present no specific licence is required to sell either cigars or cigarettes but the law will shortly change. Whilst no licence is required, at the moment there is a requirement pursuant to Section 2A Finance (Excise Duty on Tobacco Products) Act 1977 that that exise duty be paid by means of purchase of tax stamps and there are some other obligations on retailers but there is no need for a licence.

But as stated things are a changing, pursuant to section 37 of the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2002 as inserted by section 8 of the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) 2004 and commenced by Statutory Instrument 405 of 2008 from the 1st July 2009 there will be a statutory obligation on retailers of 'tobacco products' to apply to the Office of Tobacco Control to be entered onto the Register of tobacco retailers. Existing retailers will have three months to so register and it will be an offence to sell tobacco products unless entered on the Register.
