Can only confirm what I was told. Your wife leave you with five kids seven weeks ago ?

yeh but if the bit about his wife leaving him is true, he might be seeking legal advice on how to get out of giving her any before he claims it all in his own name.

We'll find out before Wednesday anyway. Can you imagine if he did lose it??

ah the stupid moo moo deserves that leaving her family for another man

i hope he can keep it all - she chose to leave her husband she chose to leave her children - i suppose she could be paid part of it but certainly not half -

i would not have thought she gave him half the money for the ticket either to have half claim either so more likely his - he could divide it by six put it into the childrens accounts therefore leaving less money for her to try and grab at

she must be thinking of some story to get back with him - mid life crisis or something

Easy, have a family member sign the back of the ticket, claim it in their name. Open up a new bank account in their name and then give him all the access to the cash!

yeh real easy. "Here, uncle joe, will you mind that 14million euro there for me please. Now be sure not to spend any ok!"

why not just wait till the 90days (or 60days - whatever the limit) .... claim it and then do a runner with the kids.....she gets nothing.

seriously.... he must be trying to sort something out - he's loosing about 700 per day in interest alone (which the Lotto keeps :P)

I called that lying bastard of a brother of mine... Turns out while our parents are married, he was lying. Sorry folks. would have been nice if true though & at least everyone got that fuzzy "ain't that great" feeling

I have to say I never got that "aint that great" fuzzy warm feeling, I was more worried about how the poor fecker was going to hold onto his cash!

Now Im just thinking for shame in posting a story that wasnt remotely close to the truth :(

So relieved to hear this (if true!) as I read in The Star this morning that the ticket was picked up in the local Spar of one of the poshest areas in Dublin. He's not a silver spoon thank ****.
He could have been on his way home from somewhere.
I've often bought lotto tickets in posh areas.

    I just don't get it

    1. Wife leaves husband and kids for another man
    2. Husband wins €14million
    3. Wife legally entitled to €7million

What kind of a crazy ****ed up world is this? She should be entitled to the money she missed out on while having his kids from missing work etc UP UNTIL THE POINT SHE LEFT FOR ANOTHER MAN.

To me, her getting half that money would be so morally wrong as to make me vomit in outrage.
    Exactly.
Although it seems now that wifey if back or never left.
Either way, congratulations to the winner. I hope to be in that position myself some day.

So it wasn't true fair enough but there are some issues that people should be aware of. My understanding is we have a system of non-blame for a divorce in this country. Effectively the courts don't need to get involved in the details of why a marriage is being dissolved.

On the winning of the lottery and the happiness it brings, I read a study on this and apparently after a short period of time the winners claim they are no happier for winning the lottery in the long term and their moods have returned to normal after initial happiness.

I know of somebody who won the lottery when quite young which should have been enough for life but now it appears it wasn't. I would say there was some reckless spending but not that much. The main problem appears to have been lack of good management rather than anything else. The people he often asked for advise simply had no concept of large money and told him simple things which he took to heart. e.g. buy new cars regularly and have no debt on them, property is easy money, use the stock market. Not particular bad ideas but if you buy a new car every two years and are not too concerned about resale you can go through a lot of money. Buying cheaper property expecting to flip it easily bites hard if you bought in the wrong areas let alone if there is a price drop. If you have no idea of stocks it is gambling of the highest order.
I think all their family know but they aren't saying anything but everybody is thinking they were pretty foolish. It is a little unfair considering they were following the family advise mostly.

This is precisely the point. The men who do that immediately get called bastards, but when a woman does it, there were probably good reasons for it.

the point I was trying (and clearly failing) to make was the person I quoted stated categorically that all women who leave their families are whores.

I thought it might have been better if they'd generalised and said "anyone who abandons their family is a <insert epithet of choice here>" ... since both men and women leave their marital homes.

but then this is AH, so p'raps not.

Only thing is that you can't get a divorce after 7 weeks, she'll be looking for half the money in a divorce settlement

Any woman who leaves her kids for a man is a whore plain and simple.

Its disgusting that a woman leaves for kids for a man is labeled and whore, yet when a man walks out on his family he gets no where near the same level of abuse

This smacks of "all wimmins is good for is looking after the young 'uns"

Anyway, she's not a whore, a whore is someone who accepts money in exchange for sexual favours i.e. a hooker or a prostitute

I think people are being too selective here. In the case above it was believed that the woman walked out and that's why she got abuse. If it was a man, he's get exactly the same level of abuse.

It's also a derogatory term used to insult a person*

*a man can be called a whore too, you know.
