    I have a fantastic idea for a website that I want to look int setting up. Thing is I have NO idea where to even start. It's essentially going to be forum based.

    How so I go about setting this up??

    Do I start with a domain name?what?

    By forum based do you mean soley forums as on this site? Or will you have other content? If it's just forums all you need is the forum software such as vBulletin that boards uses, or if you wanna go the open source route, myBB is the best imo.

    If you're sure you want to go ahead with the idea there's no harm registering the domain name and getting some hosting now, you'll have to do it at some stage anyway.
