Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've upped the other Blackout thread, we can discuss the cup only here if people wish but do we really need three threads on Blackout? :)

Its fairly popular but not quite at the sub-forum stage yet (i don't think)
I don't see any problem with three threads unless you feel we do need a sub-forum.

How do i go about signing up for this cup? My lads are running away with the league at the moment so some competition would be nice.

I think we can add The Flying Whales to the favourite list along with Polk High and Gerlaldine RFC... ;)

Have lads got a particular strategy for the cup? I'm going to have to play my match(s) WNWIM because of league commitments, in a tough one with promotion probably impossible but second place and a big cheque would do nicely.

Basically im just going to get hammered

Id get some transfers going if i wasnt in the red for my magnificent stadium upgrade.

Umm if you arrange a freindly now then you won't be able to play in the cup, which should start this day week.

Whoops, canceled anyway though for some reason friendlies took place on Thursday.

    Upping.

Once we get the 32, I will put up the fixtures and format, so hopefully tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,238 ✭✭✭Gelio

    Final score

    Geraldine RFC 2nds - 12

    Polk High 2nds - 29

Interesting result, was 12 - 0 to geraldine at half time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,108 ✭✭✭johnnysmack

in fairness geraldine should have scored twice more in first half. can only put second half performance down to better fitness levels. but it extends polk highs recent unbeaten run!

Are we going to play all matches WNWIM or is it up to the descretion of each manager?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Probably best to leave it up to the manager, although I will defintely be playing WNWIM.

My lads will be playing like their lives depended on it. :D

    Wnwim for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Unless its a league game against a human opponent, a game you simply have to win, its best to play WNWIM, as you gain more in-game training (greater CSR and more pops) while you keep the energy levels and LTNT rating at their highest for the truly important matches. Obviously, the more you LTNT the less effective it becomes, so this all adds a real strategic edge to the game, planning your intensity for the most important games in the season.

Similarly, all youth games should be played WNWIM, while youth players should be rotated per every game so they have a better rounding in skills.

Let the games begin!!! The inaugrial Boards.ie Cup - I pray I get through round 1 :D

Looking at match 1 - Geraldine RFC (pre-tourney fav :) ) vs Bart The Cantankerous Gnome. Should be a classic having played Bart (and lost) last week myself!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭MikeCork2009

By the way can we like make a team or the week after each round based on each teams players stats (points scored/rating)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

I should say, it was Steve who did the fixtures, so thanks. ;)

I'll check daily on the site to see how people are doing organising the fixtures.

Mike, I'll see what I can do regarding team/player/match of the week, not sure how I would present it though.

Alright lads, as it stands 6 of the sixteen friendlies have been organised (the fixtures in bold), I changed a couple of the fixtures as Rarthgar Under-12s and Banner Warriors orgainsaed their own friendly, so now they are playing each other and Flying Whales are playing Meh.

The underlined team, Bosh Merchant, is straight through as tommy's tigers have organised a friendly outside of the ie boards teams.

If the "home" team doesn't set up the friendly should the "away" team do so? I haven't had my invite yet :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Give it until Sunday Dreamer, if he hasn't sent anything by then we'll sort it out. Maybe you could leave a message on the Blackout site or pm him on Boards?

Alright lads, right now we still have nine of the friendlies to be organised, so if you are one of the nine please send the friendly invite out as soon as possible. The following teams have to send their invites out, and if you already have already please post here to tell me...
    Ashton (Invite Sent)
    PnG Wanders
    Strenous Man Flurry
    Maniacal Matriarchs
    A Lovely Bunch Altogether

    musicboxers
    The Blackouts
    Cork Hurricanes (Invite Sent)
    Flying Whales

If you have either sent the invite out, or are the away team awaiting the invite, I would suggest you make an effort - pm him here, or leave a post on their guestbook - to show you have tried to organise the friendly, and that its not your fault it wasn't organised. ;)
