An economic study has set an "ambitious but achievable" target of creating 12,000 jobs in Co Louth over the next six years.

This study by Indecon International Economic Consultants provides a blueprint for the newly-formed Louth Economic Forum, which is being chaired by former IDA director Padraic White.

R&D, science and the internationally traded services sector are all highlighted as having potential for employment growth in the region.

Louth's proximity to the M1 and Dublin Airport are also listed as a key advantage.

It's hard to see where the jobs are going to come from with most companies downsizing but would be great for the region if true.
