Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Painting Teak Windows

    Hi All,

Anyone have experience of painting teak windows? Is there any specific treatment needed? The windows in question are sash windows, hoping to paint them an off-white colour but a lot of advice concerning teak products talks about 'oiling' etc. Any 'painting teak windows for dummies' type tips would be appreciated!

Get a professional to do it for a start, do not do them yourself unless you know how to do them properly.

I work in the restoration field and my biggest source of work is from people having left their windows jammed by DIY painting jobs.

On the other hand maybe you should paint them yourself:D

The base coat you should use for sash windows is a Colourtrend water based paint I can't remember the exact name but if you go to a good decor store like the big one in Stillorgan they will know which one to use.

You shouldn't really use oil based primers for Iroko (Teak).

    Cheers for the reply S.L.F.

Unfortunately budget means it will be a DIY job - so keep a space in your journal in case we need your professional services at a later date! :p
