They will be on this benefit for a maximum of 12 months. So in affect they get back what they put in. It has nothing to do with you are your taxes.

Cant see myself sitting at home all day doing nothing.Great at the start but it would drive me nuts.At least in a job you would have some contact with people,plus you have theright to give out about all the sponges that are dole takers!;)

That's an institutionalised thought and it's good for a capitalist system (or rather , "economy") to have people who believe in work and believe that working is good.

We're in a situation whereby we've to sell our labour with little or no control over our work. So no, I disagree that all jobs are good.

It's still a job though, I would rather take home a pay packet for actually doing something, than sit at home and draw the dole.

If work is there, take it and wait until something better comes along.

I have done it in the past and would continue to do it to bring money in that I have earned.
Maybe it's me but I want to know I did something for it.

Just my opinion.

No, but if it means I can earn what is in my pocket, rather than take money from taxpayers because it would demean me to take a certain job, I will take the job over the dole.

So, if you work for 30 years, you pay your taxes and you get nade redundant, do you get it all back? Sounds good to me! PRSI is actaually pay related?! COOL!:D

the 12 months benifit has been reduced to 9 months,then a means test to qualify for(or not) assistance
