Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Maybe as a wrestler he is just trying different things?
He is known to be an MMA fan, and he is letting that come through.

Come on, if wrestling these days was all about the wrestlers character reflecting their moves in the ring, we would have things like finlay going around knee capping everyone and kane setting people on fire (for real).

And for that, i cant think of anyone else in wwe at the moment who uses that mma kind of style.

He could have been stale and used the same set moves as he did years ago, but in my mind takers always tried to mix it up a bit, and you have to respect him for that.
When he was in the biker days he was different to when he was deadman MK1 and now he is different again.

Why is there something about those 4 simple words that you didn't understand?

Well there is a fair bit of a difference in thinking you work for a wrestling company and actually doing it.

Being in the business means your making a living from it, its sustaining your income.

He is the undertaker, not the zombie. Why shouldn't he be allowed take a fighting stance in a fight.

Callaway is a well known mma fan who from a creative side can do what he likes so there is now way anything he does is forced.

Any new fighting styles that are from mma were developed from bikertaker, the current charachter is a combo of the original persona and biker taker so these changes to the charachter are perfectly acceptable.

RE: The original topic Taker should stick as he is. He doesn't have enough time left to reinvent the persona again.

He shouldn't use that fighting stance because it doesn't suit the gimmick period. Callaway may be an mma fan but he is not an mma fighter, that's where i make the difference. I feel they're indisputable facts, that doesn't mean i don't think you're entitled to your opinion, you are. It's as simple as, really.

This is Ireland, wrestling may add to the incomes of many of us in the industry but it doesn't sustain us. I actually have 3 jobs including wrestling. Are you in the business? Maybe i know you. If not then i fail to see why you would try to explain to me what being in the business is!

For my response to the Deadman/mma arguement see my above comment.

We're all entitled to our opinions lads.

Sorry if i sound like i'm patronizing you, just speaking from experience and what was passed down to me by my trainers.

He should use the fighting stance. The current gimmick is clearly defined as a guy trying to scare his opponent, get inside his opponents head. Adopting such a stance at the start of a match makes him look even more difficult to overcome.

I understand he's not an mma fighter. Sting isn't a baseball player but yet is known to use a baseball bat.

Why, who are you, Priceless? I'm sure you've no problem telling us?

Otherwise we'll all just assume you're using your "I'm in the bizness" line to try and force your point.

Undertaker, as i said in my first post in this thread, has ben commented on as not being dead. It's merely his thing, to creep out his opponents and play mind games.

His character is an amalgamation of all his previous characters. Entrance, attire and taunts of The Dead Man, fighting style and wrestling mannerisms of the American Bad Ass.

When Kane 'buried' him at Survivor Series 2003, he didn't put him in a time machine or erase his memory. He's still the same Undertaker that played the American Bad Ass character.

As i said dude, it's your opinion, i simply will not be validating it for you. His stance isn't scary, the Deadman part of the gimmick is designed to mess with peoples heads, the mma add on just makes him look stupid.

I refer you to your last paragraph "American Badass Character" i.e a separate character to the deadman character. Should Tom Cruise walk into a bar in the new mission impossible movie and start making cocktails like he did in the movie of the same name? after all his memory hasn't been wiped either? That's right he's an actor playing 2 distinctly different characters which it would be ridiculous to merge, sound familiar?!

    Lads seriously!

Have always thought takers gimmick in whichever form biker or deadman has worked better when he was heel. I Feel he needs to turn heel now if he is going to do anything of substance between now and his retirement.

Cant see where he goes from now if he stays face, things getting a bit stale.

The Undertaker has been stale since 94. Was never a fan of the chap. He just bores me so much in everything he does, I get slow methodical wrestling ala Orton and the headlocks, I like that but Taker just bores me from his entarance to his wrestling.

    .

You may find him stale but the fans dont seeing as he is the most over wrestler in the business. I would like him to turn heel but to say he has been poor in his current persona is harsh, his matches with Edge, Batista and even recently Shelton have been good. Lets not forget his match with HBK, he did not need to be heel to make that work. Turning him heel would be difficult as he is so over, I mean when him and HHH were going at it at No Way Out, Taker was getting all the cheers. Batista got booed against him and I do no think a feud with Cena would turn him face. Jeff could but if he is out the door soon thats a no starter.

Define "Being in the business" for us?

He's probably a major shareholder in WWE with a name like Priceless or maybe he's the head booker for Trampoline Wrestling

Just so I haven't been teleported back to 1988 Mark Callaway the MMA Fan isn't the same as Mark Callaway the Undertaker. Undertaker is his wrestling gimmick mainly based on Horror elements so when did you last watch a horror movie were a person gets killed with a submission move

I don't see it happening, but I would like to see it in order to give some proper closure to his career in the WWE and to give him a send off that is fitting (much like Flair). What I mean is that if he stays in the Deadman gimmick, what's going to be his last act? Winnning or losing his last match and then cutting a promo about how he must leave his "creatures of the night" (and cue him descending to the rafters? Will he be buried alive and never seen again "in character"? Will his druids escort his lifeless body out of the ring? They all sound pretty lame to me. And I don't trust creative to write such a fantastic storyline that wouldn't make the deadman's retirement seem like a cringe fest. Maybe to save themselves the headache they should just humanise the character.

They should give him the same send off as JBL "Undefeated at Mania" give me a break the guy should have put Edge over at Mania 24.Someone should explain to Mark Callaway that at least half of his Mania matches were rubbish and he was carried in the others , when are taker fans going to realise the guy is nothing more than an entrance and sure when he leaves they can continue the entrance and put Hornswoggle in a black hat and coat, its no wonder Sim Snuka dropped him on his head

No doubt that a few of his mania matches weren't great but i put that down to his quality of opponant. I'm sorry but anyone who ever thought that matches against mark henry, a-train, the bossman etc. were going to be any good, should never watch wrestling again. In contrast to this, his matches against Michaels, Edge, Orton, HHH etc. have been excellent.

I think his finisher should be more of a posession type angle rather than a submission move it looks stupid to see a guy the size of taker wrapped around a guy on the ground in a choke

With all due respect it would seem as though that alcohol is still clouding your judgement because your last 2 points RE Taker's fighting stance and him being an mma fan i answered on the previous page so you're just going around in circles and your comment to Rampage1 where you asked him where he "heard" that "garbage", read his comment again and pay close attention to the part where he says he was "at the o2" and maybe you might be able to figure the rest out yourself! I agree wit priceless, take shoulnt b doing mma style wrestling cause if you look back to when he first started with brother love as his manager (of course his supposed manager paul barer was injured so couldnt do it),after suviour series he was putting people into body bags and carryg them away after the match.now that shouldve been the taker that they should be still using becasue that would put the sh1ts into anyone, people who say the baddass taker was good,i do agree with that,it was an intresting gimmick and gave him more mike work which is what he needed cause even as dead man,he was boring on the mike, even now i cant bare to listen to taker on the mike,it just puts me asleep.I agree wit what rampage1 said bout hells gate, its the most useless finisher, you might aswell say that old school can be used as a finisher cause its pointless,of he's going to use a mma style move as a finisher at least do it right and make them really tap or put them to sleep, then it will be better

I have always found it interesting when people talk about opinions but proceed to belittle people for having one. As interesting as it is i don't appreciate that style of discussion and find it goes against the spirit of the charter.

KKV summed up takers current gimmick very well. In my view it is a good gimmick, we get the deadman mind games with the more adaptable style of wrestling that allows for good matches.

Re the original topic: I hope he doesn't go back to the bikertaker in full as he will always be best known as the deadman. When he retires it is likely to be like austin, he will walk away from full time and return for the odd/rare appearence. His finale would probably be hall of fame followed by a mania appearance. I don't see many guys getting the type of send off flair got, flair deseved that type of recognition and giving it to others would take away from it. Thats, how we say, my 4 cents.

I only quote belittle unquote people and or their opinion in response to them and others making ridiculous comparisons to shoot down my valid points in an attempt to make me and my points look stupid. I mean that baseball bat statement was as ridiculous a statement as i've read all year. I'm a football fan, should i start kicking a ball around the ring? you see how stupid that sounds? if my gimmick was of a former soccer player then yes but it isn't, Taker's gimmick isn't that of a former shootfighter but Ken Shamrock's was so it suits him and doesn't suit Taker.

By the way a bunch of lads from, Drogheda, yes i know you, ganging up on someone coz he disagrees with their point and are deperate to have the last word in some sort of self imagined Keyboard battle of supremacy is hardly in the spirit of the charter either. Thanks to Rampage1 and littleman for making valid points instead of desperate attempts to sound knowledgable about the business like certain others and discredit those who disagree with their, in all fairness, heavily biased points, given that they are actual Taker & Kane marks.

No offense lads but some of you aren't even reading the responses properly and then you're trying to argue...

I want to see proof that you know Santie Claus doesn't exist! What are you going on about?

Primo ran at kane and Kane was out of position for a cross body, Primo hit the mat and stayed there selling while kane stood hunched over looking at Primo out of the corner of his eye with a lost look on his face waiting fo him to get up coz it was still his "shine" and not time for the "cutoff" yet, the match was clearly planned move for move and when one spot went wrong Kane didn't seem to know how to "call an audible" and get the match back on track. I'm sure you could ask the 12,000 plus others who saw it if you don't believe me after all i love making stuff like this up in great detail...oh dear god!!!!!

Yes he has carried many an atrocious worker, they are the matches Rampage1 was talking about when he said half of them were rubbish.

Secondly you can remain in the business as long as you want as long as any element of your gimmick is over and will hence draw money, i've been in the business nearly 5 years and i'm not the best worker but i know what i'm talking about.

Lastly that corpse comment was was just childish, you know as well as i do that Taker, even in say 1999 was portraying his gimmick perfectly but the shooter thing just looks hokey and sticks out like a sore thumb within the current incarnation of his gimmick. May have worked for Badass Taker but not Deadman Taker.

Both of u have good ponits but i would like to ask priceless u say ur in the business five years is ta without been injuryed are can u back this up with prove are any of ur matches on yuoutube to show how u work the ring because u talk ahh great match i can wait to see u in the ring u could be the next big star that wwe, tna, roh are lookin for and when's ur next show because it should be priceless just like u name and what's ur gimmick by the way and can u tell ham easy it is to sell ahh move like an armbar:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: and can u tell the us who u have worked for over here

No because you would be disqualified if you hit anyone.

I agree wit priceless, take shoulnt b doing mma style wrestling cause if you look back to when he first started with brother love as his manager (of course his supposed manager paul barer was injured so couldnt do it),after suviour series he was putting people into body bags and carryg them away after the match.now that shouldve been the taker that they should be still using becasue that would put the sh1ts into anyone, people who say the baddass taker was good,i do agree with that,it was an intresting gimmick and gave him more mike work which is what he needed cause even as dead man,he was boring on the mike, even now i cant bare to listen to taker on the mike,it just puts me asleep.I agree wit what rampage1 said bout hells gate, its the most useless finisher, you might aswell say that old school can be used as a finisher cause its pointless,of he's going to use a mma style move as a finisher at least do it right and make them really tap or put them to sleep, then it will be better

i agree bring back the body bags :D:D:Dicon14.gif

Well Gravestone, like most workers i have had my share of injuries, i have been affiliated with most of the promotions in the country, i've wrestled a recognised heavyweight champion and if you know who i am, yes you can find videos and pics of me floating in cyberspace and 2 of my former colleagues are over in FCW. I hope that answer was ambiguous enough for you...BRRRRROTHER!!!!

Even though you didn't punctuate it as such i'm going to assume that was sarcasm coz if it wasn't then i'm going to have to assume that you've missed the point yet again or you're being facetious.

but its not a ligit mma move, there is no pressure at all on it,its as useless of a submission hold as a wristlock, bring back the dragon sleeper, now thats a move you can make someone pass out from or if hes going to use hells gate,he shhouldve kept it the way he first used as a tri-angel choke which its supposed to b a reverse of,what about an arm bar,why doesnt he use that since hes a big mma fan????
