    Hey!

My boyfriend got followed home by a stray dog after his run this morning in the Cabinteely area. Does anyone know of any rescue places on the south side of Dublin that he could contact to see if they will take the dog in? We'd rather he went to a rescue shelter rather than a pound to ensure he's not pts after a few days.

    Thanks for you help!

You're legally obliged to do everything in your power to find his owner... Chances are he's from the area and maybe got out, his family could be frantic worrying about him! He followed your bf home so he must be friendly.... He could be rehomed within days from a rescue, and all the while his owners could be upset and out looking for him.

Because you have taken him into your care you need to do these things (it's the right thing to do anyway)
    1. Inform your local Garda station and give a description of the dog
    2. Contact pounds, vets, and rescues in the county and give them a description as well.
    3. Put up posters in local shops, library and other public buildings.
    4. Have the dog scanned for a microchip

He followed you home, but he is not yours to give away to a rescue or anyone else. Only when there is no result from those things would you consider handing him over to a rescue.

would you have a pic or even description of the dog? Perhaps put some ads up here,on gumtree or ISPCA website? Keep an eye out on the lost sections in case he matches a description.
Call Me Socket is 100% on the ball there. Hopefully this lil dog will be reunited with his family. Best of luck!!:)
