Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Great news.

Keano needs time in the lower divisions.

    Win all-round

Good stuff. A club in a lower league but with past pedigree in the Prem and an open future. Standard Irish manager club.

Cue all the Keane fans donning their Tractor Boys jerseys. They'll be everywhere now for the next two years until Keane throws his toys out of the pram and returns to walking his dog.

Lord save us and protect us from these fine weather fans.

listening to rte this morning and according to them Ipswich have 15 1st team players out of contract this summer. Expect an influx of Irish players I reckon.

There's a difference between having an interest in how the team of one of Ireland's greatest players is getting on and becoming a fan of that team especially when that team has a lot of Irish players.

Listening to Sky last night, apparently Magilton was laid off over the phone while he was on compassionate leave, taking care of his sick mother.

Nice way to repay years of service.

    Wow.

Still a good move for Keane, actually ideal infact. With so many players out of contract he should be able to put a stamp on things in the coming window. Garvan is a serious up and coming talent. And we know that he has had previous success with this type of task. Best of luck to him.

I'm guessing this is part of a short-term plan by Ipswich. Prepare for plenty of drama and journeymen over the next two years.

Disgraceful way to sack a manager it'd be nice to see how Keane does tho I think his idea is to build up experience to take over the national team one day so he can do things his way.

I doubt that is his idea, National management isn't really viable career in itself, from my knowledge of Keane, I would say his goals are success and trophies.

Delighted to see him back managing anyway as he adds something to the game that is missing with some of the robot managers around. It will also be good for the Championship in terms of coverage.

Thats shocking if its true, i heard about the over the phone bit alright.

Will be interesting to see how Ipswich go from one angry irish man to another!!:D The players still probably wont know what the manager is saying!

Wonder hav Ryanair set up the Dublin to Ipswich flights yet.....suppose Blackpool would be closest place?

I'm surprised at that his reputation is still intact after his spell at Sunderland. He got them promotion but after that, it was spend at bust. The amount of turkeys he bought far outweighed any actual talent. I think he'd do much better under the wing of someone for a few years.

Honestly, the first person to walk around town in an Ipswich jersey or to wave a tricolour at Portman Rd deserves a slap and the constitution should be amended to have this premise made legal!!

Great move for Keane. Glad to see he hasnt got to big for his boots (thinking he would walk into another premiership job). Wonder will Ipswich become Ip-ireland-swich. Doesnt quite have the same ring to it does it?

I know Ryanair are bad for leaving you "close" to the city you're going to but Blackpool if you're going to Ipswich? That might be a bit far.

It's true though. I wouldn't have been at all surprised to have seen him get the Portsmouth job or something similar come the summer, despite the hash he made of Sunderland.

In fairness to him though he obviously knows his level and has gone back to it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

In fairness Hoddle wouldn't of been much better in my opinion he always makes some outlandish decisions as a manager and then that comment on disabled people?????? Crazy! But they wheren't going to get Curbishley so I can't think of very many other possible candidates and Keane brings a lot of exposure and is sure to increase the amount of players who will come to ipswich.

That said Ipswich like Sunderland is not manchester or London so It'll be hard enough to get really good players to come in.

Oops, i kinda made a bit of a balls up with my geography there, u thought Ipswich was somwhere on North West...my bad! But at least you got a joke out of it!

Iv actually seen about 4, although most of those have been playing 5 a side or other things where you can write off some of them as being from the bargain section of sports world or just simply eejits!
