Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

he plays with band on an island! Is that at a humanzi gig?

Is he a bass player? He looks really familiar, looks the image of a guy I used to regularly see at Heavyweights gigs (blues).

**edit nope dont think it is after another look!

There's an exhibition of Photography using Nokia N73 and N96 phones by Don Mullen at Gallery One, 1 Castle St, Dublin 2 (accross the Road from Leo Burddocks at Christchurch). Definitely worth a look.

Just came on to post the same! More info here: http://www.nokia.ie/donmullan

Going over to Dublin from Galway tomorrow to check out the Boards exhibition so might manage Don Mullan too while I'm over.

judging by the quality here, the Sony E. seams to produce best quality images.
Went to that mobile phone exhibition at the weekend, they were all taken with a Nokia - really enjoyed - - so maybe the humble mobile phone is coming of age as a camera

That is a Humanzi homecoming gig from around October upstairs in Whelans. Great night, thought the roof was going to cave in.

I recently acquired a Samsung S8000 Jet, after a brief encounter with a SE C905, which despite having an 8MP camera, took photos with terrible Jpeg compression and noise processing artifacts.

The camera in the Jet has a 5MP sensor, f2.8 lens, autofocus and a twin LED flash. The resulting image files are of about the same size as those taken with the 8MP C905

It also has image stabilisation, smile detection, blink detection and manually selectable white balance modes and ISO. The exposure system can be set to either centre weighted, spot or matrix with adjustable exposure compensation. Contrast, saturation and sharpness are also adjustable. There are also several scene modes like landscape, portrait, night... and several effects like b&w, negative, sepia etc.

There's other stuff like guide lines and timers etc.

One little trick that I absolutely love is that you can set the focus box on what you want the point of focus to be, half press and hold the shutter button, then recompose and shoot and it will maintain the focus point you selected. Oh yes! It won't hold the exposure though, drats.

It will also take astonishingly good 720x480 video at 30fps. Many of the settings and effects available to still images can be applied to videos also.

And as if that weren't enough, it will even shoot slow motion video at 120 fps, albeit at a reduced resolution, giving you 1/4 speed on playback. I suspect all this is made possible by the 800mhz processor. :D

It has an OLED screen that is just stunning. A bit over saturated, perhaps, but viewing photos on the phone and then on a laptop can lead to disappointment that the laptop doesn't have an OLED screen as well. Oh yes, the screen is 17.6M colours as well.

You can even edit photos and video on the phone. The photo editor includes an auto-levels which is slightly heavy handed but still...

    A couple examples:

Quality wise its crap (phone camera, nighttime, rain!) but this is one of my favourite shots taken with a phone, its from Punchestown earlier this year. Only feet away from Angus Young doing a 20 minute solo in the lashing rain. Pure joy :)
