Have seen him on numerous occasions on Vincent Browne...Tonight included..God he is terrible in the studio..No debating skills..No knowledge..And always hinting towards his role in the peace process..The guy is an academic..Not a politician...An embarressment altogether..And the worse thing is that FF will continue to wheel him out and the general public wont notice so much.It will be a case of Martin "who"...Surely those close to him can see how far out of his depth he is...Why is Cowen keeping such a low profile for these shows??(Is it because it suits him to??)

He was a big enthusiast for the hugely wasteful 'decentralisation' project, displaying considerable ignorance and arrogance towards the public sector. His idea of 'public secotor reform' is to make everyone randomly change jobs and move to constituencies favoured by his party.

He is now responsible for the property procurement for this project.

its remarkable the way he goes on, particularily when he, like dr kenneth whittaker, had huge roles in the behind the scenes stuff during northern ireland peace talks. his adversaries in stormount must be shocked with his carry on

Always makes for an entertaining watch on Vincent Browne though. Last night though VB couldn't decide if he wanted to lay into him or Leo Varadkar more, and George Hook was taking centre stage in the meantime

He is FFs ultimate fall guy - he was the one with the tearful eulogies for Bertie when he announced his resignation, honestly it was revolting how much he out Harris-ed Harris. He's a stalwart akin to O'Dea who is always trotted out when there's bad news in the press to deflect attention away from the real culprit or a vulnerable minister.

Did you see Noel Aherne wave away a member of the studio audience on Q&A this week, with the "that's rubbish" soundbite to accompany it. Good to know that they do have respect for public opinion.

I cannot stand his girly squeaky voice. His mouth should be gaffer taped when he's not actually answering a question

I saw him interviewed on UTV Live a while ago, and he's such an embarrassment:rolleyes:

he comes over as a smug arrogant plonker.

Just watched him on Vincent Browne on the TV3 site. My God!!!

How did he keep his job. About 5 mins in he makes a joke and then starts laughing for ages and everyone is just staring at him. Can't believe he's getting paid to be so utterly sh*te.

That's the phenomenon of Martin Mansergh in a nutshell. I can only assume that because of his history behind the scenes, that he's very highly regarded in Fianna Fail. He's probably as good a person to wheel out as anyone. FF are facing a potential bloodbath in the next election so there's nothing to be lost by sending him out. They probably reckon about 6 people and a dog watch Vincent Browne anyway, instead keeping that heavy-hitter Willie O'Dea for more high profile shows.

He's actually incredibly intelligent & well spoken but I don't think he's able to think on his feet or come across well in interviews.
His main strength is looking at a situation & being given time to assess it from all angles to then give a detailed & educated view.
He really is 'old stock' & genuinely believes in doing his best for the country rather than getting caught up in political tit for tat.
For him it is a genuine love of politics instead of trying to score points against the opposition at every opportunity but I can see how people get frustrated with him.

Saw Martin Mansergh on the VB show this week. Very dissappointed in Manseragh another politician out of touch with the voters

That being the case, why did he champion the disastrously wasteful 'decentralisation' project?
