Flashing the lights at people driving faster than you.

Not headlights, spots. And its actually not illegal. Its no more dangerous than someone approaching the car behind me flashing their lights. Its to demonstrate just how annoying and dangerous it is to get flashed for no reason. If it makes even one person cop-on, then it could save lives

I would like to see some clarification that it isn't illegal to place a number of white lights facing rearwards that aren't for reversing but instead to teach people a lesson not to flash you?? I see it as pointless that you went to the effort to install the lights but how you can imagine that its not a potential danger to someone driving behind you?? just to teach them a lesson? No matter the intensity of the lights I dont think that can be legal.

You plan to turn on a number of white lights (that point rearwards? correct me if I misinterpreted that?) to demonstrate to people that it is annoying to be flashed?? it seems a contradiction and has no potential for doing anything useful.

I have to disagree with you on that myself

I think he mentiioned that the spots were going on in relation to his line off work and was indicating that he might be able to use them for a secondary purpose (punishing those who flash needlessly at him!), a bit of eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth school of thought (which I am a fan of! even if its harsh and dangerous!)

Well thats a senseless approach, its not his job to punish anyone and an eye for an eye approach is a bit immature too.
It may be annoying if someone flashes you but its not your job to police them, just get on with your life without getting so worked up about it.
But mostly i find it hypocritical for someone to say
"I don't like being flashed, so if you do flash at me I am going to do to you the thing that I disagree with and that so annoys me" its immature.

As for the spots going on in relation to his work he clearly suggested he put them there for that purpose.

How might this look to a Garda driving behind him if he saw this, an example I was driving on a DC, pulled away from lights truck on inside and car in front of truck and me, the cars in front of truck and me were pulling away slightly so no room for me to move in front of truck, car behind me flashes me, I could go nowhere so I kept making my way until I could move in and put on indicator (while still beside truck to indicate I would move in, still car in front of me) he then turns on his lights and siren (unmarked car) I progressed normally as I was untill I could pull out of the way.

Now he may have been a dick for flashing me but how would it look to him if I had a set of lights pointing rearwards to flash back at him to suggest my annoyance.

Or if he pulled over me_right_one how do you think "I just wanted to teach you a lesson" would go down?? I think it'll be clear they aren't work lights.

Whats the point? If you're on the inside lane it's none of your business what the others do unless it affects your road position

You are forgetting one thing. We are dealing with the spiteful little irishman.

I know one man who will drive a 70 on the M1, on the outside lane. He is too scared to go any faster because he might get caught, however he hates the fact that other people are getting ahead of him. THAT is what you are dealing with in this country.

I'll let him stick up for himself so...... but worth remembering, if he wasnt flashed in the first place, none of the procedding shennanigans would take place! So in my opinion, that first flash is the problem not the excessive retaliation!

I'll flash them if they were being a pr*ck immediately before they decided to overtake, eg: the northern reg courier that was up my arse last night in the dark/wet for about 5 miles before he decided to eventually overtake (on a bend). I was driving at just under the posted limit and a constant distance behind the car in front.

    Tosser!
