3ds max pivot points not working

Im learning 3ds max and I cant seem to get the default pivot point on an object to wrk after Ive moved it. On the teapot object lets say I move the pivot point to the spout and then unclick 'affected pivot point only' then when I go to rotate it it still rotates about the middle as if I haven't moved the pivot point at…

I tried using the 'working pivot' option and it works fine I can get the teapot to rotate about any place I put the working pivot. Anyone got any ideas why changing the location of the default pivot point isnt working for me.
