Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Canon Film Lens Compatibility.

I was asked this recently and not being from the Canon stable I didn't know the specifics but it made me curious.

If you are shooting with a Canon film camera - the EF lens are what are compatible (if my limited knowledge is correct) however if buying a Vivitar lens is there a particular designation.

That made me think do Vivitar make lenses for the Canon digital?

And what is the numbering/branding designation that someone should look out for if buying a vivitar lens for a film Canon?

Oh, life would be so easy if it were a K-mount :pac: (well for me anyhow)

Any help would be welcome as they'll be reading here.

Canon have a number of mounts (for film). There's the EF and also the FD (AFAIK).

Not sure about anything else about the lenses though.

An EF mount lens should work on both film and digital.

    FD lenses for F,A & T models eg. F1 etc., A1 etc AND T90....
(i.e. manual focus lenses/ film bodies)

EF lenses are for all EOS film and digital bodies (almost entirely autofocus lenses)

EF-S lenses are only compatible with cropped sensor digital bodies
