Wouldn't that be consistency? Am I being thick? Either way, congrats on nearly being done :D

Nope, if I was consistent then I'd drop in and out ALL OF THE TIME. But that day I was on twice so I was upping my usage, therefore not being consistent with my usual behaviour... Also, thanks! Three and a half hours time and I'll be FREE!!! Congrats on surviving your evilist (it's a word!) semester yet! :)

well did ye get yer curriculum specialisation??? i got my number 5, thank you Mary I for the oh so fair system of random selection!

  • Registered Users Posts: 267 ✭✭ciarraioch1

Damn you beat me to it!!
Was just about to announce that they were up!!

Myself and mr onion both got our number 1...the internet and multimedia authoring one.

    What did you get?

I was sure they would give b.eds preference because they took your applications 2 weeks earlier than ours, but there are 3 psychs in my curric spec, so they must have been fair!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 194 ✭✭earleuginedoyle

fair???? Mary I?? never!!! god forbid they should do this properly and take other things, anything into account when assigning specialisations! but no, thatd be too much work for them....

    ok i'm a little angry.....

i got development education.... which most people thought i was picking as my number one anyway, but i don't want to study development in mary i!! i can study it anywhere anytime, i wanted to do something that would go with my degree and that this was my last opportunity to study properly........

  • Registered Users Posts: 194 ✭✭earleuginedoyle

oh also congrats to both onion and ciarraioch1..... :D

    I got Visual Arts! :D

I had P.E. as my first choice, but I never expected to get it, so getting my second choice is fantastic. I only know two of the people in the group though.

Apparantly I got my number one, so go me! That does suck though EED, wonder if there's anyone you could talk to?

Ciar...ch1, who else is in with us? Any other nerdy types?

  • Registered Users Posts: 312 ✭✭RibenaHead

Got my first choice too - Applied Behaviour Analysis - think it sounds interesting... Although I bet we'll all end up hating our choices when we've to do assignments/projects!

Not looking forward to getting back to Gaeilge Ghair and Cert in Rel... ugh!

Quite frankly I never look forward to much in that wonderful college!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,916 ✭✭✭RonMexico

There is never really much to look forward to in any college tbh. It is the social life outside of college that makes all the difference.

Mary I suffers in that department for a number of reasons.

1: Lack of a proper student village nearby.

2: Lack of numbers compared to most colleges.

3: The student population is very narrow and defined compared to other colleges. Diverse is still part of a song to most people in Mary I. :D

I also find the constant comparisons with UL to be hilarious for the most part. Yeah they have loads of facilities but what good are they if you'd rather bet on sports than participate :D I went there for two years and the place bored me to death.I'm pretty outgoing but I was doing Computer Systems where most people would rather practice C++ then get ****faced in the stables. I also "studied" in America for a year and that was just mental from day one! Great social life, out every night of the week at bars and house parties. So unless students make an effort to have a good time then it won't happen. It is all down to you!:D

I'm hoping to make the most of the social scene next semester, limited and all as it may be. After two and a half years in the college I know far too few people well enough, so I'm going to try and make up for that.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea (I know some people prefer coffee:pac:), but I like it. It'll be much improved physically when the new building opens.

Did everyone get the email from an tUachtarán Peadar Cremin? That's quite a strange Christmas blessing he linked to.

Ha, hadn't seen that until you mentioned it :) Very nice.

I wonder if that's Lóchrann playing the music on the Christmas blessing...

    what was in the box?!!!
I'm on crappy internet so it froze as the box started opening..:(

Also I gotta agree; social life in Mary I is pretty good if you get involved and go out, but all the courses in Mary I involve lots of work, so plenty people end up choosing their qca over their social life (understandably).

Variety being the spice of life, I personally think mary i students should go out more!

Nothing too spectacular, you're not missing out on much!

awww...I was hoping for something far more exciting
well I guess if the college regularly omits full classes from examination lists, what hope have they with non essential stuff like xmas e-cards

well did ye get yer curriculum specialisation???

There seems to be more of a selection since I was there, eg: ABA, internet/multimedia.

Seriously don't know how they assign them though..had friends who put things down for number one/two and not getting it, then hearing that others who had it down as number five (or not at all!!!!) getting it!?

Think I ended up getting my number two or three.
Though what use they have in real world of teaching I don't know! Think all my other friends could say the same no matter which Ped-Op they did!
Also, none of them will be a factor in you getting a job or not!

Hey new dude, welcome to the thread :) I jest, I don't mind the place, my sense of humour is rather... cynical!

Very disappointed about that. Oh well. Maybe next year! Y'know, when most of us have left the college...

    Also, welcome Dambarude :)
    Who are you..?

It baffles me as to why Mary I doesn't have its own forum. Mustard, Wanderly Wagon & even Frisbee have their own forums FFS.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,678 ✭✭✭D4RK ONION

    PROTIP: NEVER insult Mustard ;)

    When's that supposed to happen?
Also, the 2010/11 prospectus has pictures of the new building with students in it... Looking at it, you'd hardly recognise it as the place where we study!

  • Registered Users Posts: 267 ✭✭ciarraioch1

    Damn..
Well myself and ribena head will still be students when the new building opens...if it opens as planned
The opening was already put back once...It was originally intended to open this jan..but alas, la recession slowed things down.

Of all the regulars here, there will only be two of us still studying in mary I in autumn?

    Also
Though what use they have in real world of teaching I don't know!

I can see internet and multimedia being fairly relevant in a few years...granted anything we cover will probably be out of date before we cover it..:P

I'd rather my anonymity within the college follow me into cyberworld I'm afraid!

Thanks for the welcome. I just hope know prospective students aren't viewing the thread... The place has a bad enough image as it is.

Mustard is the most revolting foodstuff that I have ever come across.

Teaching labs, lecture halls, a 500 seat theatre, a new shop, accommodation (for visitors I'd say), offices, computer labs, student lounge... and maybe a canteen? That's what I've heard anyway!
