Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Missed FP1 this morning which is somewhat annoying. Anyone got any idea which tyres Bridgestone brought to Bahrain this weekend? Haven't heard them mention it on BBC yet and it's not mentioned on Formula1.com

Another unexpected result - Toyota 1 and 2! 4 GP's down and 3 teams taking 1 and 2 on the grid. So much for the "Brawn Supremacy" this year - are we looking at a year of actual racing between more than 2 teams? Hamilton in 5th - really, anyone doubting the guy's driving ability at this stage needs their head examined.

Well Im happy that Ferrari managed to stay in to qualify in the top ten. Like Mr Humpreys said every driver on pole has managed to win so cant see anyone other than Toyota take top positions anyway felt sorry for Webber he deserves to be further up than 19th:(

    Well
to be fair McLaren have done quite a few upgrades to his car already.
    also
Do you know what fuel load he is carrying compared to others?

Hats off to kimi and Massa to pull what must be the worst car on the grid in terms of performance and driveability into the top 10 shootout.
According to commentators they said it looked as though Kimi was heavily fuelled.

Looking forward to seing what the fuel loads are and really looking forward to tomorows race

"To be fair" the guy has dragged a crap car all the way up the grid in every single race this year and massively outperformed his not - incompetant teammate in practice, qualifying, and races.

Appreciating good driving is hardly a crime. You can criticise Hamilton for being a lot of things - boring, hyped, shifty, selfish, whatever. What you can't deny with any degree of authenticity is that he is a phenomenal driver.

The Top Gear test track doesn't lie! 4 seconds faster on a wet track than Mark Webber and only .3 seconds off the Stig - who is clearly the best driver of all time.

    As I suspected
Hamilton is a full 16 kilos lighter than Kimi

    Hamilton 652.5 Kilos
    Kimi 671.5

    1 Trulli - lap 13
    2 Vettel +0.216 - lap 17
    3 Button +0.4725 - lap 15
    4 Glock +0.473 - lap 11
    5 Hamilton +0.6247 - lap 15
    6 Barrichello +0.79 - lap 13
    7 Massa +0.827 - lap 20
    8 Rosberg +0.933 - lap 21
    9 Alonso +1.076 - lap 14
    10 Raikkonen +1.144 - lap 22

    Quali weights

Put that in your pipe and smoke it...!! "Fanboys" my ar$e :D

Nice to see those Toyota's up at the front. Lighter than Vettel & the Brawns though.

So glad the Ferrari's both got into the top ten and both heavyish on the Fuel too.
Lets hope for some Ferrari points in Bahrain!

This should be an interesting start with Hamilton on the third row having the kers.

Entertaining race! Strange that half the drivers thought that they were in bumper cars :D

Not sure about KERS - don't like that boost that it gives. Much prefered people being punished for poor exit lines or having to defend like mad rather than "oh no I ran wide!...oh wait. *click*"

    🤪

Found that pretty boring though Europe is looking good with all the changes to the cars - i hope Ferrari get their act together and start competing to win races.

I think KERS is killing overtaking.

Did the Overtaking working group not think of that when they were sitting for hours discussing how to make overtaking easier?

If they must introduce something as artifical as KERS, it should have been made compulsory from this year.

Personally I hope they do away with it as soon as possible.

I thought the race was pretty entertaining.
Webber did pretty good to get where he did
And thankfully Ferrari have some much needed points.

Disaster for BMW and no upgrades to come?? Looks like they need them.

i thought BMW said last year that they had stopped developing the 2008 car to concentrate on the 2009 - something kubica said, what the hell were they doing playing cards that car makes the ferrari look good.
great race from button thought he would finish 3rd or 4th tbh.
toyota made a complet b**ls of their strategy though that long stint on the harder tyre seemed to kill their chances of winning.

thought hamilton had a good race should take that 30 kilos of kers out - might drive better (runs and hides)

yipee some points for ferrari at last!! well done kimi.

I share your thoughts Enzo, hopefully this will be a turning point for Ferrari/Kimi. The race was nice to watch. Piquet made good use of his KERS system, barrichello knows all about it :D Looking forward to the next race with up date's for some teams making racing closer, hopefully.

The race was ok a few cars bumping together at the start it got a bit boring in the middle when the front cares were racing each others strategy rather than go for it on the track. Anyone know what happened to Glock was he just slow?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 536 ✭✭✭enzo7

he said he was struggling for grip on the hard tyres.

Delighted that Ferrari finally got points on the board:), Well done to Button today. Webber did well despite starting from 19th on the grid, looking forward to next race where Ferrari might do better.:D

Ya he said he had no grip on the second choice tyres. Who is that woman doing the driver interviews for BBC. She should be shot. She interviewed glock abouot his race. He went through his race stints in detail saying that on the harder tyres he had no grip etc etc. He made it totally clear why he was quick or slow at different times during the race. She then comes back with the question - So where did it go wrong in the race?
Either she wasnt listening to him or she hasnt a notion.

The KERS is a great leveller of races - Hamilton having KERS completely changed the nature of the race start, and had Button not held on to skip past Vettel, we'd have had a different result - the rest of the race was a procession. Toyotal could have won this race but ballsed out on the strategy - should have cut short that middle stint and sent the cars out heavy for a long third session.

I have to say that the Red Bulls have had the best pace all season so far, but some frankly awful luck.

As the team radio said, Button did his day's work on the first corner and after that it was everyone else's (mostly Toyota's) mistakes that gave him the win. Still magnificent driving from him at that first corner and then to take Hamilton, though.

Kimi finally put in some effort into a performance with the Big Boss on the pit wall today clearly seeing how many incompetent or lazy heads he was going to chop - but I predict it won't be long before Kimi is back to waiting for someone to hand him a better car. Massa might be an inferior natural talent to Kimi but he's a much better driver for a team like Ferrari.
