Jermain Defoe's brother is on a life-support machine after being attacked in broad daylight in east London, The Times has learnt.
The 26-year-old is at a central London hospital after suffering serious head injuries following an attack in Leytonstone on Monday.
He was taken to an east London hospital but later transferred to the location where he remains. Newham CID, investigating the attack, do not think a weapon was used.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We were called to an east London address on Monday, April 20, 2009, to reports of a man suffering head injuries following an assault.
"The victim, a man aged 26, was attacked in Walnut Gardens, on the junction with High Road, Leytonstone, E15, by unknown suspect or suspects, between 1615 and 1700.
"He has since been transferred to a central London hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening."

Hope he pulls through defoe's had a hard few months being injured and all and now this crazy!!!

Unfortunately he's passed away. He was quite popular on the UK Hip Hop scene, Gavin Defoe but known as Escobarz, or Big Barz. The man obviously had some talent, its such a shame. He had a wife and kids :(

    Rest in Peace.

Cant see anything on web to say he has passed away. If he has , its awful news. Something like this could take JD a long time to get over.
