Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all

I'm still a bit of a noob with my DSLR and was wondering if anyone can offer up some tips or link to a tutorial on framing shots? I try to do it as best I can but most of them seem a little unbalanced. No real focal point.

    Thanks in advance.

The rule of thirds is your only man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thirds

Some people don't like the idea of rules governing composition, but as a starting point, or in the absence of any better ideas in the moment, the rule of thirds can't be beaten.

No real focal point? Just get in close and fill the frame. :D

I agree. It helps to examine a scene for a while before taking a photo. Moving the camera even slightly to the right or left can improve composition considerably, as the objects in the view change perspective.

On the subject of composition, some very useful ideas were discussed in this thread:
