back 4 picks themselves, ando,Ronaldo and Rooney are sure starters after that who knows

not sure about ando to be honest. He would be in there for me but the competition for central midfield is so big at the moment hats its honestly hard to pick. With Giggs sitting out the weekend completely I think he is definite starter.

also regarding the back four. VDS, Rio, Vidic, and Evra, pick themselves. At right back though you may see a surprise in either Brown or Rafeal.

Yeah would go along that, Player of the Year will definately start.

Giggs on the left, Fletcher, Carrick, Ronaldo. Berbs and Rooney up top.

really think he will go with a straight 4-4-2?

How many times has Giggs done a shift on the left wing this year? Think we need someone able to cover the ground and help deal with Walcott out there. Giggs will be playing off the front me thinks.

Will Vidic be allowed to play twice? That seems unfair...

along with Fletcher. However I don't think Fergie will go in here and have Scholes and Carrick on the bench. I think its gonna be one of Carrick and Scholes, and one of Ando and Fletcher.

He interchanged with Rooney in the Pompey game and was man of the match.

I think at OT he will play 4-4-2.

Won't see Walcott til the 60th minute I'd say.

my mistake, Fletcher is playing good stuff atm too

I just really hope fergie isn't going to be cautious, go for it saf

I would be shocked if Walcott isn't on from the start and told to run at Evra every chance he gets.

You have to be some what cautious in a Champions league semi final. A team with flexibility is needed.

    CM
    Cm
    -Ronaldo---Giggs
    Rooney
    Berbatov

offers the most flexibility IMO. Ronaldo and Rooney can be pushed up top. Giggs can go further back into midfield. If Fletcher is playing he can out wide etc.

I'd agree with those selections, reckon it will be Carrick and Anderson in the midfield spots (ando rested at the weekend for this match imo)

O'Shea at RB, rest of the defence as expected imo. Rooney needs to be wide left for this game to combat Wallcott, and Sagna if he is playing.

    .

Can't remember the last time Walcott completed a full 90.

Think he is a much more potent threat coming on for the last 30, savage and effective weapon to have on the bench.

If it does happen, I would bring on the South Korean at exactly the same time.

we also have the option of dropping Berbatov and putting Ronaldo or Rooney up top and bringing in Park who I don't think has been playing a lot recently.

Ahhhh too many combinations, and still over a day away. Wish it was tonight.

So it comes back to whether Walcott will start or be on the bench like Boggles thinks.

EDIT: he started both games against Villareal and come off after 78 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,457 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

For the home game, I wouldn't start park - play Rooney out wide left, or coming from the left - between himself, Evra, Ando and Giggs we'd have enough player capable of getting stuck in to players like Fabregas and Walcott, if both start.

Arsenal are away from home remember, they will need to be thinking defensively themselves.

LOL, you used Arsenal and defensively in the same sentence there. Crazy fool.

Even if they do plan on thinking defensively, it will mean playing one up top. They will be setting up to counter attack then and Walcott is perfect for that.

Walcott should certainly start tomorrow night. Otherwise it means Eboue at RM and while he's played fairly well recently from right back, he has no place starting in midfield in the semi final of the CL.

yay some gunners have joined us

Walcott will start just like Rooney and Ronaldo will start.

He hasn't completed many games lately because he was just back from injury before the Villareal games and since then it's all been about keeping him fit for this.

I think he'll be massively important but would be worried about him defensively when Evra overlaps.

Can you remember the last time a fit Walcott didn't start an important match? He'll play.

Also, while he won't want to concede many, Wenger's a big believer in (and critic of) the importance of away goals. Especially against a team likely to score one themselves.

No chance unless the delivery dramatically improves, been fairly poor of late imo.

Surprisingly enough, Arsenal have one of the lowest tally's of goals conceded from corners and set pieces this season. Just saw the stats the other day(think it was to do with pool and zonal marking)

Surprised that he won't be on the bench, but never thought he would be in the starting 11, too soon for him considering he has only had 45 mins for the reserves since coming back from his injury. I reckon he might get 45 again this Thursday night and might be in contention for a run out against Boro. Don't see him starting either Arsenal CL game to be honest, not enough game time behind him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Nunu

SSN were quoting Fergie as saying Brown doesn't make squad. They showed snippets of conference just there and Fergie said he definitely won't start, so he may make the bench afterall?

Switching Sagna is about as good as playing Gibbs.
