I'm lucky i've passed my test, but my other half re-applied for it

cost €70, she failed her first test, cost €35 last time.(3 months ago)

Hell of a jump isnt it.

Considering the savings made on insurance by simply passing, I don't deem it to be an extortionate fee.

It's a normal price by international standards.

The rip-off is the waiting time.

Probably so, but its a double up on price, never heard mention of it.

Like a said earlier glad have a full licence.

I saw mention of the increase on the day of the last emergency budget and thought how clever it was that they snuck it in under the wire. There was some revelation that they made a loss of about 20 million Euro on the cost of running the driving test setup, so they doubled the fee to compensate.

Sneaky sods, i know this is off topic but has any noticed that they

(The Goverment) have made the NCT harder. Well i've heard of and seen

alot more cars fail the test on simple things. I guess the Goverment are

out to make a few bob where they can.

They'll probably discover in the end that even they can't get blood from a stone.

That price of 35 had remained unchanged for 17 years! It's about time they increased the price, that 75 still doesn't cover the cost of the test to the RSA.

In Fairness (and i hate to defend the current cabal in power) most of the "changes" should have been in from the start...

Even now it is a bit lax...

The full cost to the RSA is over €100 per test, so I think its a bargain.

Dont get me wrong i'm all for good and safe cars bein on the roads.

But why the whole 5points and fine for not having an NCT when going the

wrong way on a round about gets you 1! Plus cars shoulnt have bein able

to get tax without them as they have bein doing until now, wouldnt

of seen that happen over in the Uk, Our Goverment are out to nail the

little guy i think. Sorry off topic again there.
